  • 🚨 BREAKING: EU #Omnibus Simplification Package on #Sustainability Released! 🚨 Today, the European Commission unveiled its much-anticipated #Omnibus Simplification Package, bringing significant changes to sustainability reporting and compliance. 🔎 Key Takeaways: ✅ #CSRD -Smaller scope: Only large companies (1,000+ employees) must report. -Voluntary reporting for SMEs: A value chain cap will protect SMEs from excessive reporting requests. -Sector-specific standards removed: No sector-based sustainability standards. -Simplified reporting: Data points to be reduced & clarified for consistency. -Delayed requirements: Reporting for wave 2 & 3 companies postponed to 2028. ✅ #CSDDD -One-Year implementation delay: Companies now have until 2028 to comply. -Narrower due diligence scope: Indirect business partners require full due diligence only if risks are identified. -Reduced compliance burdens: Stakeholder engagement rules are simplified, and business relationship termination is no longer mandatory. -Fewer SME reporting obligations: Only limited sustainability data requests from partners with fewer than 500 employees. ✅ #CBAM -Exemptions for small importers: Businesses importing under 50 tonnes/year are now exempt. -Simplified compliance: Easier emissions calculations and streamlined authorization processes. -Strengthened anti-abuse measures: New anti-circumvention strategy to prevent regulatory loopholes. 🎯 What’s Next? The legislative proposals will now be submitted to the European Parliament and the Council for their consideration and adoption. The changes on the CSRD, CSDDD, and CBAM will enter into force once the co-legislators have reached an agreement on the proposals and after publication in the EU Official Journal. 🗓️ Join us in Brussels on March 20th for our high-level conference with EU policymakers & industry leaders to discuss these updates👇https://lnkd.in/euPVZU2N 🔗 Read the full proposals here: -Omnibus 1: https://lnkd.in/d89TjJAt -Omnibus 2: https://lnkd.in/e3y4Djcs 🔗FESI press release and position paper👉https://lnkd.in/etiaiqNe #Sustainability #Simplification #FESI #CSRD #CSDDD #CBAM #Taxonomy

🌍🏭 The Clean Industrial Deal: What It Means for the Future of European Industry The European Commission has unveiled its Clean Industrial Deal, a game-changer for industries aiming to stay competitive and sustainable. This initiative directly impacts textile and sports brands, pushing for greener, circular, and resilient production models. Key Takeaways for Textile & Sportswear Companies: 🔋 Affordable Clean Energy – Lower energy costs, electrification, and more renewable energy access to power sustainable manufacturing. ♻️ Circular Economy Leadership – By 2030, the EU aims to be a global leader in circularity, reducing waste, maximizing resource use, and cutting CO₂ emissions. Expect stronger regulations on recycling, material traceability, and product durability. 🏆 Sustainability-Driven Market Incentives – Public procurement and incentives will prioritize low-carbon, recyclable, and circular materials—a major shift that will influence textile sourcing and manufacturing. 📉 Lower Taxation for Green Investments – The EU will encourage tax breaks for companies investing in clean technologies, sustainable materials, and energy-efficient production. 🌎 Global Trade & Competitive Fairness – The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will ensure that imported products meet sustainability standards, reducing unfair competition from less-regulated markets. 👩🔬 Innovation & R&D Support – More funding for eco-friendly textiles, bio-based materials, and advanced recycling technologies. 👷♂️ Skills & Workforce Development – Investments in reskilling and sustainability-focused training programs to prepare the workforce for greener production methods. #SustainableFashion #CleanIndustrialDeal #CircularEconomy #Sportswear #Textiles #GreenManufacturing

  • 📢 🆕 FESI unveils its Position Paper on the Omnibus Sustainability Package – Key priorities for the Sporting Goods Industry👇👇 Ahead of the European Commission’s publication of the Omnibus Sustainability Package, planned for February 26th, FESI is sharing its new Position Paper outlining key priorities for the sporting goods sector. ℹ️According to the European Commission, the proposal should cover a far-reaching simplification in the fields of sustainable finance reporting, sustainability due diligence and taxonomy. The EU's executive objective is to ensure better alignment of the requirements with the needs of investors, proportionate timelines, financial metrics that do not discourage investments in smaller companies in transition, and obligations proportionate to the scale of activities of different companies. In its position paper, FESI emphasises the importance of practical implementation and simplification to ensure that businesses, including #SMEs, can effectively meet the new sustainability requirements without undue burden or red tape: 1️⃣ Avoiding new legal obligations 2️⃣ Involving industry stakeholders in consultations processes 3️⃣ Ensuring consistent implementation 4️⃣ Avoiding integrating further reporting requirements 5️⃣ Introducing more lenient timelines for SMEs 📄 You can read our full position paper here: https://lnkd.in/ebjxBf28 #Sustainability #SportingGoods #FESI #OmnibusPackage #SMEs #SupplyChainTransparency #EUlegislation #CircularEconomy #EU

  • 🌱 FESI at the Ecodesign & Energy Labelling Forum in Brussels: 2 days recap 🌱 This week, FESI proudly & actively participated in the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Forum, marking our first in-person attendance as a newly appointed member of the Ecodesign Forum. 💬 Key Takeaway: We fully support Commissioner Jessika Roswall’s intervention, emphasizing that “we need a shift of mind set and a transformational step change. We must work with all stakeholders and focus, first of all, on implementing and enforcing agreed legislation.” Her call to harmonising rules and fostering transparency also fully aligns with FESI’s vision to pragmatically support a more responsible and forward-thinking sporting goods industry. 🗣️ During the forum, FESI actively contributed to discussions on: ✅ The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (#ESPR) working plan ✅ Derogations under the ban on the destruction of unsold products ✅ Reporting format sharing the industry experience & best practices #Sustainability #Ecodesign #EnergyLabelling #SportingGoods #FESI #ESPR #CircularEconomy #GreenTransition

  • 🌍 Last week, FESI team attended the latest edition of the OECD - OCDE Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector in #Paris🇫🇷, where we had the opportunity to meet with our members and connect with a wide range of stakeholders from the sector. As always, it was a valuable chance to engage with industry leaders, policymakers, NGOs, trade unions, and experts as we collectively explore solutions for more responsible and #sustainable supply chains. 🔹 Key highlights from these 2️⃣ days: ✔️ Balancing regulatory requirements with practical implementation to ensure meaningful impact across the supply chain. ✔️ The importance of increased collaboration between brands, suppliers, and workers to address challenges in responsible sourcing. ✔️ Discussions around when and how businesses should consider responsible disengagement. The forum provided a crucial platform to explore how the industry can enhance due diligence implementation, improve supply chain transparency, and align sustainability reporting requirements in light of evolving legislations such as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (#CSDDD). 🔸 During the Forum, FESI also participated in a roundtable organized by the Policy Hub, Social & Labor Convergence Program, Fair Wear Foundation, and amfori - Trade with Purpose, to discuss their new Handbook for Due Diligence Implementation for Textiles. The Roundtable was a good chance for the European Commission's representatives, industry and NGOs to come together to discuss current gaps in due diligence implementation and advise on future implementation guidelines to ensure the industry is well equipped to comply with #CSDDD. As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, ongoing dialogue and collaboration will be key to driving scalable and practical solutions that will support a more sustainable and responsible industry. #Sustainability #DueDiligence #OECDForum #GarmentIndustry #SupplyChain #CSDDD #FESI #ResponsibleSourcing #SupplyChainTransparency

  • ESPR UNSOLD GOODS 📢 FESI joins forces with industry leaders to advocate for a simple, effective approach to reporting unsold goods! FESI, along with major European industry associations, has co-signed a joint letter urging the European Commission to implement a cost-efficient, risk-based verification process for reporting unsold consumer products under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). Why is this important? ✅ Avoid unnecessary regulatory burden – third-party verification adds costs and delays. ✅ Use existing mechanisms – Member States already have tools for verifying reports. ✅ Support businesses in sustainability – excessive red tape takes resources away from real climate action. We call on the Commission to align its actions with its goal of reducing administrative burdens, ensuring efficient enforcement without unnecessary complexity. 📄 Read the full letter here below #Sustainability #Ecodesign #ESPR #CircularEconomy #Regulation #SportingGoods #FESI American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) Cosmetics Europe - The Personal Care Association APPLiA - Home Appliance Europe DIGITALEUROPE AIM - European Brands Association EDANA, the voice of nonwovens CEPE AISE International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products

  • 🚨 FESI joins industry call for a product-specific approach to Ecodesign! 🚨 FESI, alongside leading industry associations, has co-signed a joint letter urging the European Commission to adopt a tailored, sector-by-sector approach in the first Ecodesign Working Plan. Why does this matter? ⚡ 🔹 Sustainability requirements must reflect the unique characteristics of each product group. 🔹 One-size-fits-all horizontal regulations risk inefficiencies, delays, and compliance challenges. Textile products are not electronics and Vice Versa. 🔹 A product-specific approach ensures better legal certainty, fewer regulatory overlaps, and stronger environmental impact. We stand with our industry partners in supporting smart, effective, and practical sustainability regulations for the sporting goods sector and beyond. 📄 Read the full letter below. #Sustainability #Ecodesign #ESPR #Regulation #SportingGoods #FESI #CircularEconomy

  • 📢 FESI Welcomes the EU’s Comprehensive Toolbox for Safe and Sustainable E-Commerce FESI firmly stands against the surge of unsafe, counterfeit, and non-compliant products entering the EU market—especially in the #sports sector, where such goods pose serious risks to consumer health and safety, fair competition, brand reputation, and the circular business models. We welcome the European Commission’s communication on a Comprehensive EU Toolbox for Safe and Sustainable E-Commerce and its ambition to tackle these challenges. In addition to the Commission’s proposed tools, we would recommend:  ✅ Stronger customs controls & dedicated training for customs officers to better detect counterfeits at the border. ✅ Full enforcement of the Digital Services Act (#DSA), particularly the swift designation of Digital Services Coordinators. ✅ Alignment between the upcoming Textile Delegated Act under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulation (#ESPR) and the introduction of ecomodulation of fees under the targeted revision of the Waste Framework Directive (#WFD). ✅ Consistent adoption of digital #labelling across EU regulations to enhance sustainability and consumer protection. FESI stands ready to collaborate further with the Commission to ensure these crucial aspects are effectively addressed. Together, we can foster a safer, fairer, and more sustainable e-commerce environment in the EU. ⏩Link to the Commission's communication: https://lnkd.in/eaY3xa4P #ECommerce #ProductSafety #DSA #Sustainability #Counterfeits #FairCompetition
