Risk advisory consultant and actuary with diverse experience in risk & capital management, financial reporting and data analytics.
It was a great pleasure to give a talk at the Annual Convention of the Society of Actuaries In Ireland last Friday on the “Implementation of robust capital management tools in Python”. I showed how scenario analysis, dependency modelling (for internal models), portfolio and capital optimisation can be performed efficiently. Our case studies were powered by Python tools built by Finalyse consultants. My co-presenter, David Kun from Functional Analytics (Amsterdam) explained the challenges of implementing such a toolkit in a production and shared insights on how to overcome them with a modern analytics platform. He highlighted the importance of scalability, reliability and reproducibility in a regulated environment such as insurance. Please reach out if you wish to explore more. #python #RiskManagement #RiskMitigation #CapitalModelling #RiskManagement #insurtech #innovation #Actuarial #insurtech #innovation #finalyse

🚀 Finalyse being part of the ECB BIRD Initiative 🚀 🎉We’re excited to share that Finalyse experts Entela Palushi(Asllani) & Sehaj Benipal are involved in the European Central Bank (ECB) BIRD initiative on the Data Modelling and Prototyping work streams. As part of the Data Modelling Work Stream (WS DM), last month, our colleague Entela Palushi(Asllani) had the opportunity to participate in a meeting at the ECB office in Frankfurt focused on integrating IReF (Integrated Reporting Framework) requirements into the BIRD data model. 📚BIRD is a collaborative project in which the European Central Bank and industry leaders collaborate to create a harmonized, free-to-use data dictionary, model, and validation rules aimed at streamlining regulatory reporting for banks. The IReF data model is developed using the same principles as BIRD, and both models aim to align with the ECB’s regulatory requirements. 💡 The BIRD data model will serve as a foundation for the IReF, which will integrate various regulatory and statistical reporting standards across the Eurozone. This will simplify compliance for banks with frameworks like BSI,MIR statistics, AnaCredit, and FinRep. 💯 Contact Sehaj Benipal and Entela Palushi(Asllani) if you’d like to leverage BIRD to enhance your enterprise data model and regulatory reporting. #Finalyse #ECB #BIRD #IReF #DataModelling #RegTech #FinancialServices #RegulatoryReporting #DataTransformation #EuropeanBanking

European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) has published an updated Report on the prudential treatment of sustainability risks in Solvency II, which recommends new capital charges for fossil fuel-related assets. EIOPA states that the 17% addition to equity stress and multiplicative factor of 40% for bond spread stress will have a limited impact on solvency ratios due to the low exposures to these types of investments. The report also covers property, non-life underwriting, and social sustainability risks, but makes no proposed changes; these will be revisited at a later date. These recommendations have been submitted to the European Commission for review, advising it to consider this within the broader context of sustainability regulation. The Commission will review the report and consider implementing the proposals. EIOPA points out some of the limitations of their analysis in the report, including a lack of data for robust quantitative analysis and the fact they have not separated the carbon transition effects from other factors such as Covid-19. Also, if adopted, this could bring the insurance sector out of line with the banking sector, for which no such capital charges are currently proposed. How do you feel about EIOPA’s recommendations? Vote in the poll and share your thoughts below! For now, we await the response of the Commission. See EIOPA's news article and links to the report here: https://lnkd.in/eGpg6Nzs
