Global decarbonisation targets are impossible without increasing the pace of long-duration energy storage (LDES) adoption 50 times over by 2040, according to the Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES Council). In their new report, the trade association suggested that 1TW of long-duration storage will need to be deployed on the world’s grids by 2030 and 8TW by 2040 to align with multilateral and national energy transition goals. The report also sets out seven enablers for scaling LDES. Learn more 👇 https://lnkd.in/d_7Nme7N

#ActOnEnergyStorage The Energy Storage Coalition calls on the European Commission to adopt an Action Plan on Energy Storage. Such a plan will enable Member States and stakeholders to fully leverage the opportunities available, providing clarity for investors, removing barriers, and ensuring that #energystorage can fulfil its crucially needed role in Europe’s energy transition. It should include at the minimum the following five key elements: 1️⃣ Provide dedicated incentives for energy storage 2️⃣ Harmonise permitting and grid connection rules for storage deployment 3️⃣ Set a fair framework for network charges and levies 4️⃣ Prioritise energy storage in capacity markets & launch dedicated auctions for energy storage and flexibility solutions 5️⃣ Monitor energy storage growth in the National Energy & Climate Plans
