Exciting news‼️ On 27 November, Namibia joined the #EDCTPassociation, making it the 30th African country to do so. As a member of the association, Namibia will benefit from the existing collaboration between researchers of EDCTP through structures such as the Alumni network. Also, EDCTP will strengthen the research capacity of Namibia to conduct clinical trials. Another benefit will be the support of Namibian researchers (especially the minority) through fellowships. At the General Assembly (the structure that governs the #EDCTPassociation), Namibia will be represented by Dr Hilma Nangombe and Jacob Angara Sheehama To know more about how to join the association, follow this link 👉 https://shorturl.at/ZSMsU

In the past few days, Global Health EDCTP3 Executive Director Michael Makanga has been in South Africa with Marc Lemaitre, Director General of the European Commission DG Research & Innovation, in the margins of the 17th Joint Science and Technology Cooperation Committee. Together they participated in two events: 🌍 A visit to Afrigen Biologics (Pty) Ltd, actively involved in advancing mRNA technology for local manufacturing of #vaccines and medicines in #Africa under the MAV+ initiative. 🎓 A visit to the University of the Western Cape, that is launching an EU-funded Center of Excellence on Pharmacovigilance in Southern Africa (CEPSA) with the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp, building on a previous EDCTP grant. 👏 A fantastic example of global cooperation driving advancements in #science and #health, reinforcing the importance of international partnerships! ---------- EU Science, Research and InnovationI EU in Emergencies Irene Norstedt Thomas Nyirenda Nuraan Fakier Michelle Nderu Department of Science, Technology and Innovation Petro Terblanche European Union Delegation to South Africa Glaudina Loots Eudy Mabuza European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP)
