HOMEDEM focuses on the recent move across Europe towards supporting people with dementia (PwD) living at home (if that is what they themselves desire to do) for as long as possible with appropriate care. This move towards a reliance on the dynamic informal care relationships with and around the person with dementia, defined as “care constellation”. This calls for the HOMEDEM Doctoral Training Network to carry out research at several levels: a) the micro level, how dementia affects relationships between PwD and their care constellations; b) the meso level, understanding the changing needs of the home living environment; and c) at the macro level, understanding how care constellations navigate the complex care ecosystem of community-based support and services. By equipping doctoral candidates with the transferable skills required for succeeding in careers at the crossroads of design and disciplines like psychosocial health sciences, economics and policy evaluation, the training in HOMEDEM will enable the PhD candidate researchers to respond to current and future care contexts. HOMEDEM provides an innovative education and training program in design and dementia care to prepare future leaders with advanced knowledge and skills. It complements doctoral training that focuses on fostering research excellence, measuring societal impact, and building sustainable networks in collaboration with European leaders across disciplines. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐀𝐣𝐝𝐚 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐫 👏 One of our PhD candidates, Ajda Flisar became the junior representative in the Management Board of INTERDEM. INTERDEM is a pan-European network of researchers collaborating in research on and dissemination of Early, Timely and Quality #PsychosocialInterventions in #Dementia aimed at improving the #qualityoflife of people with dementia and their supporters, across Europe. As a Management Board member, Ajda will be invited to INTERDEM online MB-meetings, about 3 times a year, and a meeting in person at Alzheimer Europe. Within the Management Board she will represent #earlycareerresearchers who follow the INTERDEM Academy, which aims to develop the #careers and to build capacity of early-career researchers working on psychosocial interventions under supervision of INTERDEM seniors. INTERDEM Academy wants to support the early stage researchers in their pathway to senior posts in the field. We are happy that our #HOMEDEM representative was chosen for this position and we hope Ajda can stimulate productive discussions around the INTERDEM Academy so that other young researchers can benefit from it as much as possible! Vamsi is a Marie Curie Research Fellow and PhD student at the Irish Centre for Social Gerontology (https://icsg.ie/), University of Galway - J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics and University of Galway. Vamsi's PhD, titled "Autonomous living for people with dementia: Resource Allocation and the role of Design and Technology" explores factors promoting independent living at home for individuals with dementia. He is also researching on the public's preferences and their willingness to pay for new psychosocial dementia care models in Ireland. Vamsi will be mentored by Research Fellow Tom Grey and the TrinityHaus team, to delve into the design aspects of homes that foster independent living. During his time with us, he will gain insights into Universal Design guidelines, relevant policies, and practical approaches to designing dementia-inclusive living environments. This knowledge will support Vamsi in developing and refining the choice attributes and levels for his Discrete Choice Experiment Survey, a key part of his research. TrinityHaus is happy to support Vamsi's secondment and be an active associated partner in the HOMEDEM consortium. VRAAG TOT DEELNAME / NACHTELIJKE ONRUST BIJ DEMENTIE - Enige tijd geleden gingen we spreken bij HOMEDEM, een Horizon 2020 project met diverse insteken rond langer thuis wonen met dementie. Daarom delen we deze oproep graag. OPROEP: Nachtelijke onrust bij thuiswonende mensen met dementie beter begrijpen. Wij nodigen je uit om deel te nemen aan een innovatief onderzoek naar nachtelijke onrust bij mensen met dementie. Met behulp van moderne technologie kunnen we op een prettige en niet-belastende manier inzicht krijgen in het nachtelijk gedrag. Wat houdt het onderzoek in? Gedurende 14 dagen verzamelen we gegevens via slimme sensoren in bed en een draagbare smartwatch. Deze apparaten registreren automatisch bewegingen en activiteiten tijdens de nacht, zonder dat dit extra inspanning vraagt van de persoon met dementie. Daarnaast vragen we mantelzorgers om een kort dagboekje bij te houden. Waarom is dit belangrijk? Door beter te begrijpen wat er 's nachts gebeurt, kunnen we in de toekomst gerichte ondersteuning bieden aan mensen met dementie én hun mantelzorgers. Dit draagt bij aan een betere nachtrust en het langer thuis kunnen blijven wonen. Persoonlijke begeleiding Twee onderzoeksassistenten staan voor je klaar en begeleiden je tijdens het hele onderzoek.
