📈Europe faces a growing diabetes crisis that threatens not only public health but economic stability. With nearly 60 million people living with diabetes across the continent, the current healthcare strategies are falling short. 💸In fact, diabetes care already absorbs a significant share of national health budgets. It's time for stronger policies and a more coordinated approach to prevention, management, and access to care. 📋Without urgent action, Europe risks incurring long-term economic costs that could overwhelm its healthcare systems. We need bold steps now to address this looming challenge. ➡️Read more from Euractiv here: https://lnkd.in/ex_-33pq ➡️and here: https://lnkd.in/erM7UQQ3

💙Over the weekend we celebrated the second anniversary of the European Parliament’s landmark resolution on diabetes! 🌍Adopted 100 years after the discovery of #insulin, it serves as a reminder of the progress we have made in #diabetes care since. It also underscores the importance of unified efforts in advancing research, improving access to care, and ensuring the voices of People living with Diabetes (PwD) are heard. 💪 On this anniversary we want to highlight the remaining unmet health needs of PwD and call on policy-makers to uphold their commitments and accelerate action on diabetes through: ✅ More research and innovation in the treatment and #prevention of diabetes ✅ Improved equitable and affordable access to #healthcare, medicines and technologies ✅ Faster redesign of healthcare systems towards integrated and personalised care ✅ Heightened awareness and #education ✅ Greater #empowerment and engagement of PwD Together, United, let’s act on diabetes. Learn more about the resolution and its impact here: https://lnkd.in/ebjXpzuX We thank the members of the MEPs Mobilising for Diabetes Group for supporting this resolution! ___________________________________________________ Sirpa Pietikäinen Christel Schaldemose Sara Cerdas Tomasz Frankowski , Romana Jerković, Kateřina Konečná, Marisa Matias, Tilly Metz, Frédérique Ries, Tomislav Sokol, Istvan Ujhelyi NCD Alliance

World Diabetes Day 2024: celebrating progress and calling for better care World Diabetes Day is here! Let's recognize the progress made in diabetes care and advocate for a future where everyone has access to the support they need. Read Elisabeth Dupont’s, regional manager at International Diabetes Federation Europe inspiring words and join #JACARDI and its allies in calling for a more equitable and holistic approach to diabetes management. 👇 "World Diabetes Day is more than just a date on the calendar. It's a moment to recognize the incredible strides made since insulin’s discovery a century ago and to acknowledge the challenges that still lie ahead. On November 14th, we are reminded of the importance of a person-centred, integrated approach to improve how we prevent, diagnose, and manage diabetes across Europe. This day also amplifies a shared call from the diabetes community. Together, we are asking for a more equitable Europe, where everyone affected by diabetes has access to the care, innovation, support and education they need. Together, we are also advocating for a more holistic approach that addresses the interconnected nature of diabetes and other major NCDs. By prioritizing a comprehensive approach, we can support healthier lives, prevent complications, and strengthen care for those affected. This is a day to celebrate the engagement of people living with diabetes, to listen to their voices, and to renew our commitment to making diabetes care a priority. By standing together, we can inspire the change needed to make a real difference in millions of lives across Europe." #EU4Health #HealthUnion #PublicHealth #JACARDI
