About us
Impact Europe is the investing for impact network. We gather capital providers (impact funds, foundations, corporate social investors, banks, public funders) to increase prosperity and social progress for all, fix inequalities and injustices and preserve the planet. Together, we rally people, capital and knowledge to accelerate, scale and safeguard impact. Photos: Getty Images René Magritte work © Succession René Magritte – Sabam Belgium 2022

Sustainability reporting in the EU is about to change. The Omnibus Simplification Package promises to ease reporting obligations — but is it smart reform or a step toward deregulation? Some see necessary streamlining, others see risk. Time to rethink the balance! Impact Europe reposted this
Last week week, I presented to the new cohort of entrepreneurs of Impact Deal something that fascinates me since I started at Impact Europe 10+ years ago: impact measurement. ✍ Below 4 insights from my intervention and, if you would like to learn more about IMM, registrations are open for our #Impact #Measurement and #Management 360° #learning #journey dedicated to impact capital providers – a mix of self-paced, online sessions with experts from Social Value International, Impact Frontiers, Impact Valuation Hub, and 2 in-person days in #Brussels in May, including peer-to-peer moments, practical workshops and a site visit. 🤓Check: https://shorturl.at/F6k9D 1️⃣ [LEARNING] It is important to go beyond the mere measurement of impact. What is crucial for organisations, whether they are investors or enterprises and start-ups, is the management part of all the discussion around impact data. Data should be used to understand what works and what should be improved, to lead to better informed decision-making. All those practices lacking a learning component are just bare reporting and marketing. 2️⃣[TRAINING] Most of the time organisations, whether they are investors or enterprises and start-ups, need support to implement or refine their IMM systems..and there is nothing wrong in asking for help😉 There are specialised consultancies that can support in the journey and some useful training delivered by incubators and accelerators and by impact networks [such as our IMM 360° dedicated to capital providers!] Having a third party to guide you and provide with an external view, but also – why not – to challenge your model, always improves the way of looking at your own strategy. 3️⃣ [STANDARDISATION] When it comes to impact indicators, tailored-made solutions can be more effective, especially to fully grasp your impact thesis and intention. However, the lack of standardisation in the field is hindering not just benchmarking, which can lead to constant improvement, but also the ability to answer the question: what is the impact of the overall ecosystem. This answer could undoubtedly increase the legitimacy of the sector itself, which can consequently play a role in mobilising additional resources, especially in the challenging current political context. 4️⃣ [MONETISATION] There are lots of biases against monetisation (mine included!), but giving an economic value to impact, it is a step forward when it comes to outcome-based finance, which has the potential to be a game changer, leveraging both public and private resources. The transformative power of such a partnership can only be unleashed giving a “price” to outcomes, which the public sector can relate to when public interventions can generate great impact and have the potential to be scaled.
