Next week I will be honored to participate as President of the Jury at the 2024 Brazil Creative Award ceremony. The Prêmio Brasil Criativo will open the World Creativity Festival in São Paulo. We will celebrate 10 years of an initiative that exalts the creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation that drive Brazil's economy. Right Parenting Techniques are Required to Safeguard the Future of Today's Mobile-addicted Kids Parents often give their kids smartphones or iPads to keep them busy while they work. However, it's important to remember that quality time with kids is precious. As a parent they know that too much screen time can hurt the children’s physical and mental health, but how much is too much? 0-2 years old: 0 hours of screen time 2-5 years old: 0-1 Hours per day 5-17 years old: 0-2 hours per day Surprisingly the Figures of Screentime used by kids Worldwide are 8-10 years old: Six hours 11-14 years old: Nine hours 15-18 years old: Seven and 1/2 hours According to a recent study in India, 42% of children under the age group of 12 spend 2-4 hours daily on their smartphones or tablets. A few of the Harmful Effects that might impact kids in the long run are 1. Cause mood disorders such as depression and irritability.  2. Additionally, kids who spend too much time on their smartphones may become short-tempered and struggle with communication and problem-solving skills. 3. Moreover, excessive smartphone use can disturb our sleep, which can lead to other health problems such as weight gain and obesity. 4. It eventually ends up getting addicted to underage websites such as Watching Porn, falling into the trap of dating apps, Financial fraud websites etc The Solution Parents should take proactive steps to ensure their children's healthy development from an early age. 1. Encourage your child to stay physically active by participating in outdoor activities  2. Restrict phone usage during meal times & media usage one to two hours before bedtime to promote better sleep. 3. Be a good role model for your child by practising responsible media usage yourself. 4. Keep an eye on your child's media usage to ensure that they are viewing safe and age-appropriate content.
