We welcome the new European Commission and remain engaged with Ursula von der Leyen's team in advancing EU endeavours to create tangible and inclusive approaches across all policies related to the #housing sector. UIPI remains committed to working with the new team of Commissioners, notably Dan Jørgensen, #TeresaRibera, Raffaele Fitto and Roxana Minzatu to streamline policies that impact #PropertyOwners while respecting the national and local competences that govern the housing sector. As representatives of 5 million property owners, we are ready to help the new Commission tackle the #HousingCrisis and ensure Europeans can access affordable #rental housing and #homeownership.

Crucial weeks ahead for intergroups in the European Parliament! As it is now the time to re-establish or create them, UIPI and the European Housing Forum strongly advocate for the renewal of the #UrbanIntergroup. Over the years, the Urban Intergroup has been instrumental in fostering dialogue, shaping #policy, and driving sustainable solutions to the #housing challenges faced by millions of Europeans. With growing urgency around issues like affordability, accessibility, and #energy efficiency, we believe the continued focus of the Urban Intergroup is critical. Its work plays a vital role in building resilient and inclusive urban communities across Europe. Let’s support its reconduction and ensure housing remains a key priority in the European Parliament! 📢 EBC convened policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders at the European Parliament to address the challenges and opportunities facing Europe’s #construction sector.   The event highlighted the indispensable role of #SMEs & craft trades in achieving #EnergyEfficiency, creating local #Jobs, and addressing #Housing crisis, and drew strong support from MEPs Grégory Allione (Renew Europe, France), Marcos Ros Sempere (Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament, Spain), and Miriam Lexmann (EPP Group in the European Parliament, Slovakia), who emphasized the construction sector’s importance for EU competitiveness, sustainability and social goals.   EBC President Philip van Nieuwenhuizen and Board members Jean Christophe Repon, Miriam Bellusova, Rinaldo Incerpi and Stefano Crestini presented actionable proposals to empower SMEs in the green; digital and #skills transitions.   Then, a high-level panel featuring Stefan Moser (DG Energy, European Commission), Ruth Paserman (DG Employment, European Commission), Ruth Schagemann (Architects' Council of Europe (ACE-CAE)), Emmanuelle Causse (International Union of Property Owners (UIPI)), and Sorcha Edwards (CECODHAS Housing Europe) discussed the energy, housing and construction triangle.   The event marked the start of a stronger partnership between Europe’s construction SMEs and crafts and EU institutions.   Read the full press release ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dCUHtgcy

I usually refrain from commenting on national policies, but this one is hard to ignore. I respect the tough job Michel Barnier and his government have in managing the budget under such difficult circumstances and tight deadlines. That said, increasing transaction taxes in a country where combined recurrent and non recurrent) property taxes are already the highest in Europe, and where transaction taxes are already significantly high, this move seems more than counterproductive. At a time when we are all (in Europe) focused on facilitating accession to housing and addressing affordability challenges, such measures go clearly against the broader goal of improving housing availability and affordability! https://lnkd.in/eDf4FTFM
