This significant growth in coverage – and with it a dramatic increase in positive sentiment - reflects the growing role of our industry in Europe and the data-driven messaging we communicate each and every day. Climate-resilient infrastructure: how to scale up private investment Infrastructure is on the front line for climate change as both a driver and a prime potentially impacted sector. Its assets are vulnerable to extreme weather events, or just small local shocks, liable to disrupt complex networks. Today in the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs hearing on the future of the Capital Markets Union, Enrico Letta and Christian Noyer, authors of the reports "Much more than a market" and "Developing European capital markets to finance the future" respectively, presented the #CMU related aspects of their recently published reports. Both stressed the need for mobilising private capital and the urgency for action.   The CMU is essential to bridging funding gaps for start-ups and scale-ups, especially in the climate, digital, and defence sectors. A competitive private equity and venture capital market will drive sustainability, technological independence, and economic resilience.   However, Europe’s venture capital market lags behind global peers like the US due to structural challenges, regulatory barriers, and limited fundraising opportunities.   To support innovation and close this gap, in our "Forward" publication we recommend focusing on 12 priorities, including:   - Amendments to #CRR and #SolvencyII to enable banks, insurers, and pension funds to invest more in long-term equity - Revising #MiFID rules to better reflect the expertise of sophisticated investors and introducing EU-wide tax incentives for VC investments - Expanding access to long-term equity investment through pension products - Ensuring European Investment Fund (EIF) continues its vital role in early-stage financing - Aligning FDI rules to attract non-EU capital while safeguarding strategic assets   Find out more: https://lnkd.in/ecuZ75UQ   #CapitalMarketsUnion #PrivateEquity #VentureCapital #infrastructure #investment #fundraising #finance #future
