PSA Antwerp and contractor TM Stadsbader Group DSG - Jeco Energies have officially signed a contract for the construction of a cutting-edge shore power installation at Europa Terminal! ⚡️🚀   A bold step towards a green future as we will enable up to 100 container ships each year to "plug in" to green electricity while docked! 😮 The installation will allow significantly reducing emissions and advancing our commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable port environment. 🔌💚   💡 Some key highlights:   ✅ The 7.5 MW shore power installation will allow us to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 10,309 tons annually — the equivalent of 625 European households!   ✅ Vessels can switch from diesel engines to clean, renewable electricity directly from the high-voltage grid, cutting harmful emissions like nitrogen and particulate matter.   ✅ A €10 million investment, including €4 million in subsidies from the European Union’s REPowerEU initiative, will fund the project, set for completion by April 2026.   “With the planned shore power installation for Europa Terminal, PSA Antwerp will become the first container terminal in the Port of Antwerp to offer this revolutionary service. This once again underlines, our unwavering commitment to prioritizing sustainability in our operations.” says Jurgen De Wachter, General Manager at PSA Antwerp container business. 💬   The shore power installation is part of Project Emerald, a collaborative effort between PSA Belgium and Port of Antwerp-Bruges, focused on the large-scale renovation of the Europa Terminal.
