"100 centuries of stories around the fire"! 🔥 Everywhere, people are telling stories. In the evening, by the flickering light of the hearth, they travel: myths, secrets, ancient traditions, religious rites, and, of course, all the wonders of love. In Museumpark Archeon, you walk through the ancient history of The Netherlands. These stories echo the cultures of hunter-gatherers, the first farmers, bronze casters, blacksmiths, Romans, Vikings, and early townsfolk. Discover what inspired them at Archeon from December 20, 2024, to May 4, 2025. 📍 This exhibition is part of "Onder Ons (Among Us)", a project organized by the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden, that ensures that the Dutch National Collection can be admired throughout the country. Meyvaert contributed 28 showcases (18 standard freestanding cases, 6 standard table cases & 4 custom table cases) to the "Onder Ons" traveling exhibition. 📸 Museumpark Archeon © #MuseumparkArcheon #RijksMuseumVanOudheden #OnderOns #CulturalHeritage #AncientHistory #MuseumExhibition #Storytelling #TravelingExhibition #Meyvaert #Present #Preserve #Protect #Showcases

"Employee in the spotlight!" ✨ Meet Fonteyne Gerrit, our Senior Product Developer, who has been shaping museum experiences at Meyvaert for over a decade. With a background in arts and a bachelor's degree in Industrial Product Design, Gerrit found his perfect match at Meyvaert immediately after graduating in 2012. One of his proudest achievements? Contributing to the groundbreaking Ithra (formerly known as King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture) project in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The project's uniquely shaped showcases challenged conventional design approaches, establishing Gerrit as our go-to 'special showcase expert'. "After work, life takes me outdoors to our charming old farm in the Flemish Ardennes, where I spend quality time with my two daughters. Our little slice of heaven includes a meadow full of farmyard animals and an orchard of cherry, plum, pear, and apple trees. The apples, they become my signature hard cider – perfect for campfire evenings or after-work gatherings with colleagues!" 🍎 Life on an old farm means endless DIY projects and creative problem-solving. Fortunately, Gerrit's hands-on experience at home often translates into innovative solutions at work – and vice versa. 🔄 "Working for Meyvaert means you get the opportunity to work on unique projects around the world, brainstorming, problem-solving and designing within a very supportive team. It comes with just one downside: whenever I go to a museum, I find myself paying more attention to the showcases than the objects inside." 🌍 Ready to join our creative team in this unique niche? "A Happy New Year & our best wishes for 2025!" 🌟 This year, we're proud to continue celebrating art and innovation by sharing some great footage of 'Operation Night Watch' at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. As we highlighted in one of our last posts of 2024, the restoration of this iconic masterpiece has officially begun. Did you know that it’s unknown how long Rembrandt worked on 'The Night Watch'? We know he received the commission before December 1640 due to the passing of one of the painted guardsmen. Completed in 1642, the painting took at least a year but likely longer. Discover more about this extraordinary restoration through the video below. Meyvaert contributed the remarkable 6-meter-high and 20-meter-long showcase designed to present, preserve, and protect this timeless artwork.
