📢 What should the EU prioritise in the next 5 years? On 21 November 2024, the Migration Policy Group’s New Europeans Initiative unveiled findings from a groundbreaking survey of migrant-led organisations across the EU. This 'bottom-up' research sheds light on critical areas often overlooked in mainstream policy, from integration and employment to democracy and migration. 💡 Survey highlights: ✅ Integration: Key priorities include employment (54.9%) and combating structural racism (50.7%). ✅ Employment & Education: Recognition of foreign qualifications (71.8%) and improved language support (56.3%). ✅ Democracy: Countering misinformation (55.7%) and fostering trust in institutions (47.1%). ✅ Migration: Legal migration pathways (58.1%) and anti-trafficking efforts (74.2%). Experts like Juliana Santos Wahlgren (she/her) (EAPN - European Anti Poverty Network), Ahmad Wali Ahmad Yar (Umbrella Refugee Committee), and Ursula Hönich (European Commission) echoed the urgency of inclusive, actionable EU policies. 👉 Download the full survey to explore actionable insights and recommendations for a more inclusive Europe: https://bit.ly/4g0C4qx #MigrationPolicy #EUIntegration #NewEuropeans #InclusivePolicy Olivia Long Sinem Yilmaz, PhD Alexander Wolffhardt Basak Yavcan Gergana Yovova Marianna Gorgerino Thomas Huddleston Pascale Furnelle

📢 New Policy Brief Launch! Today, Migration Policy Group releases Bridging Gaps in Political Participation: Voting Rights for Third-Country Nationals and EU Citizens in the EU. This policy brief sheds light on the uneven landscape of voting rights for non-citizens across Europe. While many EU mobile citizens can vote locally, third-country nationals (TCNs) face greater restrictions—only 14 EU countries allow TCNs to vote at the municipal level. Extending these rights, especially locally, could foster integration and democratic engagement. 📌 Key recommendations include: - Granting local voting rights to TCNs. - Expanding voting rights for EU mobile citizens in regional and national elections. - Encouraging EU-wide standardisation to support inclusive participation. Together, let's support a more inclusive and democratic Europe! #MigrationPolicy #VotingRights #EU #Integration #Democracy Read full brief 👉 https://bit.ly/48PZrko Sinem Yilmaz, PhD Alexander Wolffhardt
