“This procedure changed my life,” says Nicole, who underwent deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease. Months after the birth of her first child, she was diagnosed with the condition at 28 years old. Before deep brain stimulation, Nicole says she experienced uncontrollable daily tremors that made her struggle with everyday tasks and kept her from her hobbies. Since deep brain stimulation, Nicole says she rarely experiences tremors and drastically cut down on the medications needed to manage her symptoms. She’s also been able to get back to the activities she loves most – from riding horses to braiding her daughters’ hair. Nicole continues to see success two years later.
