Very happy to share about our latest investment, Yeastup, which just closed its Serie-A funding round with €9.5M! 🎉 Every day, 10,000 tons of brewery yeast are produced worldwide as a by-product of brewing. This promising Swiss biotech is upcycling that yeast into functional proteins, which have a significantly reduced impact on GHG emissions compared to animal-based proteins—and 74% less than other plant-based options like peas. Excited and inspired after Newtree Impact first official Mission Committee meeting last night! This committee was established as part of our company bylaws to uphold our mission: "Making impact investing accessible to everyone to help preserve the planet by reducing the impact of food on climate and biodiversity." This commitment is at the heart of our corporate purpose, and last night’s discussion reaffirmed its importance. Our first topic of debate—ensuring access to capital for all—sparked dynamic ideas and thoughtful suggestions that exceeded our expectations. A huge thank you to Valentine Papeians, Mathilde Do Chi, LL.M., and Hugues de Meulemeester for their enthusiasm and insightful contributions, and to Nathalie Peeters for her meticulous preparation and coordination. Looking forward to seeing these ideas come to life and making meaningful progress together!

A groundbreaking study from the University of Cambridge, involving data from 2 million people in 20 countries, has revealed alarming findings: eating just 50g of processed meat daily—like two slices of ham—can increase your risk of type 2 diabetes by 15%. Even 100g of unprocessed red meat can elevate the risk by 10%. Experts strongly advise cutting back on red and processed meats to lower these risks and better align with current healthy eating guidelines. Egg proteins... without eggs, a reality thanks to Onego Bio! 🌍💡 Newtree Impact is proud to be part of this revolution with a new €750,000 investment in Onego Bio alongside food industry leaders: NordicNinja VC, Tesi, Maki.vc, Agronomics Pvt. Ltd. and EIT Food. Onego Bio is crossing the boundaries of innovation with its precision fermentation technology. The biotech produces egg proteins without intensive farming and with a significantly reduced environmental impact. Its product, Bioalbumen, is identical to egg white in terms of nutritional value, but with 90% less CO2 emissions. In March 2020, we were in the most acute Covid period and containment was decided. It was also time to reinvent ourselves. Newtree Impact was born ! As a passionate nature lover, I realized how deeply the food chain is involved in the climate crisis and the loss of biodiversity. Hence the idea of creating an investment holding company with a positive environmental impact. With two main missions:  💡 To propose innovative, sustainable solutions for the food chain  🌎 To make it possible for everyone to invest in these innovations We wrote these missions into our bylaws, establishing ourselves as a company with a mission. And now we've just completed a second fundamental step: our first crowdfunding campaign. We welcomed nearly 290 new investors who collectively invested €2 million to revolutionize the way we produce and consume food.
