‘𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙟𝙠’ is een reeks webinars gericht op verpleegkundigen in alle fasen van hun carrière: van studenten en pas afgestudeerden tot ervaren professionals in het werkveld. De navormingen zijn specifiek afgestemd op het niveau van verpleegkundigen, die doorgaans een goede algemene basis in farmacologie hebben, maar geen gespecialiseerde vakken zoals medicinale chemie of toxicologie hebben gevolgd. Afhankelijk van hun opleidingsachtergrond en werkervaring kunnen er verschillen zijn in voorkennis en leerbehoeften. Hoewel verpleegkundigen de primaire doelgroep vormen, staan de webinars ook open voor andere zorgprofessionals, zoals artsen, apothekers, physician assistants en paramedici, evenals geïnteresseerden met een passie voor medicatieveiligheid en gezondheidszorg. De webinars zijn toegankelijk voor deelnemers uit zowel Vlaanderen als Nederland en bieden een praktijkgericht leerplatform voor iedereen die medicatie op meesterlijke wijze wil beheersen. 💊 💻Deze Nederlandstalige webinars vinden plaats op woensdagavond, één tot twee keer per maand. Als een sessie hybride wordt georganiseerd, kunt u bij inschrijving aangeven of u online of fysiek wilt deelnemen. Bij een te laag aantal fysieke deelnemers kan de sessie uitsluitend online doorgaan. Inschrijven gebeurt per reeks van drie opeenvolgende sessies voor slechts 50 euro. Zo kiest u het thema dat u het meest interesseert en krijgt u de kans om ook andere onderwerpen te verkennen. Er wordt een attest van deelname voorzien.

📢 Valuable insights from our latest publication: "Deprescribing for Nursing Home Residents with Limited Life Expectancy: A Qualitative Study to Identify Barriers and Enablers for Healthcare Professionals." 🩺 By interviewing 28 healthcare professionals (physicians, pharmacists, and nurses), we identified barriers and enablers to deprescribing at multiple levels: 🔹 Micro-level (individual): 🧠 Attitudes and perceptions toward deprescribing, 👨⚕️professional roles and competencies, and 👥 triadic dynamics in deprescribing (interplay between the resident, informal caregiver, and healthcare professionals). 🔹 Meso-level (Nursing home): 🏥 Resources and organizational factors, 🗣️ interprofessional collaboration and communication🤝 🔹 Macro-level (policy): 📜Healthcare systems and policies⚖️ 📌 Our findings align with research conducted in other settings and populations, revealing common barriers and enablers to deprescribing across healthcare contexts and highlighting a systemic gap in integrating deprescribing into routine practice. This underscores the need for complex interventions to effectively integrate deprescribing as a routine practice. 📌 Given the shorter life expectancy of nursing home residents with life-limiting conditions, the primary treatment target is mainly improving quality of life. Deprescribing unnecessary medications is essential for achieving this goal. However, medication review, a crucial step toward deprescribing, is often not prioritized by nursing homes due to competing goals, creating a barrier for professionals to deprescribe and posing a discrepancy with the treatment target. 👉 Towards the implementation: 🔍 Using the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF), we mapped the barriers and enablers to 13 TDF domains and further linked them to behavior change techniques, providing a foundation for future deprescribing interventions. 📖 For more in-depth insights, please refer to https://lnkd.in/eBKW96v8 🙏 I sincerely thank my co-author ✍ Lieve. Two weeks ago, I had the honor of speaking at the OHCHR Expert Workshop on Access to Medicines, Vaccines, and Health Products, where I joined Viviana Munoz Tellez, Antony Scott Taubman, Deusdedit Mubangizi (WHO), and Anand Grover (former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health) to discuss legal and regulatory solutions for equitable access. This discussion will inform the Human Rights Council’s 59th session in June 2025.
