Our Autumn Conference and AGM is still running. Today we had Mdme Martine Deprez (Minister of Health of Luxembourg) with us presenting the future role that osteopaths will have on the National Health Services of Luxembourg 🇱🇺. It was a great opportunity to exchange with her, learning from her experience as patient receiving osteopathic care and also as Member of the Government and we’re very thankful for that.

The 2024 Autumn Conference and General meeting has started with the national representatives and members of the board has started! The event was opened by our president Hanna Tómasdóttir followed by a review of a member survey by vice president Lluís Horta. The main topic of the morning are the different aspects concerning the CEN-standard on Osteopathic healthcare provision, presented by both Lluìs Horta and Tomas Collin, the treasurer of OE. The weekend is kindly (and efficiently!) co-hosted by one of the member organisations ALDO (Association Luxembourgeoise des osteopaths), the Luxembourgish osteopathic association. Last touches and we are ready for our autumn gathering in Luxembourg! ✨🙌 Twice a year the representatives of the leading national osteopathic associations get together for a conference and either a spring or autumn general meeting held by Osteopathy Europe. 🌷🍂 Leading up to the event the board members gather to hold one of our face-to-face board meetings. This time of year has several pleasant encounters to offer! ✨ In the eve of our Autumn Conference and General meeting soon to come, the Board of Osteopathy Europe had the opportunity to join the Nordic Osteopathic Congress in Oslo a fortnight ago. 🤩 The NOC consisted of a pre-conference that focused on the osteopathic education, wonderful lecturers and workshops, conversations, a panel discussion, gala dinner and spending time with colleagues from the Nordic countries, all over Europe and beyond!❤ We cannot thank enough the Norsk Osteopatforbund brilliant conference organizing team and the Nordic Osteopathic Alliance for organizing this event!! 👏Thank you for the Kristiania University College for the start of the weekend and a special thanks to NOF for hosting the OE board in beautiful Oslo! 😍 In between the hard work and the official event, the OE board had time for a team-building event, kayaking in Oslo harbor. Very productive OE Board Meeting at wonderful Oslo 🇳🇴. We did prepare our next General Meeting and took some strategical decisions for the development of our organisation and the future of our profession. It was great to meet Jakob Lothe from the Global Alliance for MSK Health and to set up some milestones for future collaboration. We also had a wonderful presentation by Pål Andre Amundsen regarding the development of his PhD work. Thanks to our dear colleagues from @norsk_osteopatforbund for their warm welcome and the excellent setup for our work. WOHW Day 7, Part 1 The use of PROMS: collecting information from patients How do we know that osteopathic care works? We ask the people! There are several surveys that are conducted in the osteopathic field. Here are some of them: The use of PROMs allows the collection of information directly from patients about the effects of osteopathic care by research organizations. The survey allows the professionals to gather Information from the consumers on for example satisfaction, motivation for care, reasons for seeing an osteopathic practitioners etc. The results differ slightly from country to country, but there are more similarities than differences. Throughout the surveys the satisfaction rates are very high. https://lnkd.in/ddGXU4Ry To survey the different countries an OPERA study is used. The Osteopathic Practitioners Estimates and Rates (OPERA) project is an internationally based census project dedicated to quantifying osteopathic professionals and  obtaining an up-date scenario regarding osteopaths' geo-distribution,  prevalence, incidence,  and profile. WOHW 2024, Day 6: Practicing EBP: promoting evidence-based practice Osteopathic educators and regulators support and promote evidence-based practice encouraging the study and use of best available evidence, clinical experience, and patient preferences to make informed patient-care decisions. Regulators expect integration of EBP to osteopathic practice and to osteopathic healthcare. Practicing EBP is a core element of being a part of an interprofessional healthcare workforce, that includes all healthcare professionals. WOHW Day 5: Providing care for elite athletes: future research initiatives As healthcare providers osteopathic professionals have contributed their clinical skills to athletes around the world for over a century. This includes providing care across all levels from the elite athletes such as the Olympians and Para-Olympians to participants in local community sporting events. Research is demonstrating improved function using manual therapy practiced and exercise advice given by osteopathic professionals. Osteopathic professionals strive to optimize range of motion and functionality, aiming to enhance the athletic performance. WOHW Day 4: Osteopathy for every person: for all ages and stages of life Osteopathic health care is for every person, for all ages and stages of life. This is being reflected in Research being conducted in various areas. Osteopathy aims to improve the person’s overall wellbeing, considering the biological, sociological, psychological and spiritual needs of people as part of their local communities as well as addressing health globally. Osteopathic professionals provide care, input and advice across a range of sectors including advisory roles in the fields of government, international health, sports, education, rehabilitation, occupational health, safety and ergonomic design- not just individual health care. Osteopaths and osteopathic physicians generally deliver multifactorial, complex interventions as a package of care.
