Today in Valencia, we are hosting the QU-PIC consortium meeting 🙌
The day schedule is busy! Bringing together the 12 partners to assemble the action plan towards advancing integrated photonics next months for quantum technologies.
Over this time at VLC Photonics location, the discussions focus on the development of Al₂O₃-based quantum Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) by integrating best performance components in one platform, and their potential to revolutionize quantum computing, communications, and sensing.
At this stage, the concept is still taking shape. During the first session, our Photonic IC Designer, Irene Estébanez, presented the first results of the passive BBs to be integrated into Aluvia PDK. A nice discussion was held to define requirements and specifications, aligning activities to ensure compatibility with a robust and accessible platform for the visible and near-infrared spectral range.
Qu-PIC - Horizon Europe is dedicated to creating scalable and cost-effective quantum #PICs by leveraging microfabrication techniques. Key efforts include the development of innovative building blocks, such as tunable lasers, squeezed photon sources, and single-photon detectors, alongside an open PDK to streamline innovation. The project also aims to strengthen Europe's position in quantum photonics manufacturing through a robust supply chain.
It is an honor to welcome the QU-PIC team to our home 🚀
