⚽ 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 🏀 Over the past two years, we have been working with Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Plan International España on the project “The gender-transformative Power of Sports for and by Students!”. 🎯 Our aim was to develop an educational tool that helps prevent gender-based violence and promotes safe, inclusive learning environments in schools and universities. 📖 The resulting manual provides a practical methodology for sport coaches and (sport) teachers to encourage proactive bystander behaviour among young people. Today, we are rounding off the project with an exciting day at the headquarters of the Royal Belgian Football Association, including: ✅ Practical training for (future) sport coaches ✅ An expert roundtable discussion ✅ A networking moment to build a community around these important topics in Belgium More info 👇 - In Dutch: https://lnkd.in/emVUHhdv - In French: https://lnkd.in/eW5UgcCn #UntilEveryGirlIsFree #HerSport #StopViolence

About us
Plan International Belgium is a development and humanitarian organisation that defends equality for girls in order to seek a better future for all children. We strive for a just world, working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners. We see clear links between fulfilling children’s rights, achieving gender equality and ending child poverty. Every girl and boy has the right to be healthy, educated, protected, valued and respected in their own community and beyond. We support these rights from when children are born to when they reach adulthood. We work to ensure that girls and boys know their rights, and have the skills, knowledge and confidence to fulfil them. This approach inspires and empowers children and communities to create long-lasting change. ✅ Until every girl is free. Our training programmes cover: ▶ 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: From bike repair shops to event management, we equip girls with skills to start their own businesses. ▶ 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: By participating in a cycling team, 30 girls build confidence, teamwork and leadership skills to thrive in all areas of life. ▶ 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: We encourage young women to build a career in science, technology, engineering and mechanics. In the districts of Gatsibo and Bugesera, where many girls face discrimination and barriers to employment, Bike for Future aims to create sustainable, life-changing opportunities for a brighter future. With a mix of sports, skill-building, and awareness sessions, we’re reshaping the narrative for girls and promoting gender equality in Rwanda. Thank you to all the participating companies and supporters who are making this transformation possible: SPOQ, delaware BeLux, and Van de velde. 👏 Together, we’re riding toward a future where girls can lead, learn, and succeed.

𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is a fundamental right that is increasingly under threat during humanitarian crises. It must be prioritized and protected to prevent further violations and secure the future of children and their communities. Last Friday, we had the privilege of hosting an international conference on the rights of children in crisis situations. We organized the high-level conference ‘Children’s Rights at a Crossroads: Evolving Humanitarian Crises’ in collaboration with SPF Affaires étrangères, Commerce extérieur et Coopération au Développement and UNICEF Belgium. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 📚 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 During the first working group on "Protection of Education”, we learned that attacks on schools have increased by 60% since 2021. Millions of children are affected, especially in conflict zones like Afghanistan, Ukraine, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Schools were once safe havens, but are now becoming battlegrounds, leaving children vulnerable to violence and exploitation. Girls, in particular, are at risk of abductions and sexual violence. “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘷𝘶𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨-𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴.” — 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮, UN Special Representative on Children and Armed Conflict 🌍 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 In the second working group, "Specific Needs During Crises”, we explored the disproportionate impact of crises on children. Protection mechanisms remain insufficient. Strengthening accountability, securing access to essential services, and involving children and youth in decision-making are vital for effective protection. “𝘞𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩.” — 𝗡𝗮𝗷𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗠’𝗷𝗶𝗱, UN Special Representative on Violence Against Children The protection of children's rights requires more than just commitment—it needs dedicated resources, political will, and a collaborative approach across generations. 💡 𝗧𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 Let’s continue to push for the prioritisation of children’s rights in all humanitarian efforts, ensuring their future is secure and that they have the opportunity to thrive, even in the most challenging times. Together, we can protect their rights and empower the next generation. #ChildRightsConference2024 #UntileveryGirlIsFree

🌍♀️ Did you know that girls are hit hardest by the climate crisis? #COP29 Alena, 15, from Malawi, had to drop out of school. Due to poor harvests, she has to support her parents in getting money and food: "It’s just too hard to focus in class with an empty stomach." 🍽️ ⚠️ The climate crisis exacerbates existing inequalities. Those least responsible for the problem feel the consequences the hardest, like girls living in unstable and lower income countries. At Plan International, we are taking action to empower girls worldwide. In Malawi, girls can access useful information about climate via an online app and we help amplify their voices. 💪 More info and testimonials here ⬇️ 🔗 NL: https://bit.ly/4fEYIF8 🔗 FR: https://bit.ly/3AVWh28
