As mentioned by Ursula von der Leyen, President of European Commission, "citizens and businesses have called for a simpler EU that delivers prosperity. This work programme is our answer. We've heard you, we're simplifying, and we will deliver. This roadmap charts our course to a more competitive, resilient, and growth-oriented Europe." At Re-Imagine Europa, we are committed to working with #policymakers, #experts, and a multitude of #stakeholders to shape together a more resilient and prepared Europe. Now more than ever, we must build new #bridges and drive shared #solutions to strengthen democratic #resilience, foster #innovation, and transform #foodsystems for a sustainable and competitive Europe. In an era of #AI-driven change and an evolving #digital society, tackling #polarisation and #disinformation while securing reliable information is critical. Re-Imagine Europa attended the kick-off meeting of AI4Gov-X, in Milan! This EU co-funded #DigitalEuropeProgram project aims to mobilise and train a new generation of European civil servants and #policymakers for the adoption and mastery of #AI in the public sector of the future. During the meeting, we've explored the structure and content of the master's programme, which will focus on AI adoption with a human-centred approach. We've also laid the groundwork for the coming six months, aligning on clear objectives and the next actions to take. Early mornings can sometimes be anything but chatty. But when you mix energetic people with interesting topics, everyone gets talkative! On Tuesday, we had a vibrant discussion about the upcoming initiatives on the EU Biotech Act, the Bioeconomy Strategy, and FP10. We focused on how policies can truly reflect the potential of #biosolutions and ensure they reach the market. Last week, the European Commission launched the first major initiative of this mandate, the Competitiveness Compass. It sets a path for Europe to close the #innovation gap and to reduce excessive dependencies and increase security, while providing a joint roadmap for #decarbonisation and #competitiveness. 🤔 What is its impact on #climate policy of the EU? Will it affect the EU's goal of becoming climate #resilient by 2050 and of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030? 🤔 During the presentation of the #CompetitivenessCompass, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that "the European Union stays the course of the Green Deal objectives, without any question". 📣 NEW PROJECT 📣 We’re excited to announce that we are part of AI4Gov-X, an ambitious four-year initiative funded under the European Union’s Digital Europe Programme that will help shape the role of AI in the public sector of the future! As AI is fast spreading into every aspect of our lives, it is crucial to accelerate but also govern its introduction into the European government and public administration. Not as another fashionable #technology, but to harness its potential for revolutionising the quality and the impacts of public policies and services to #citizens and businesses. AI4Gov-X will train a new generation of European civil servants and policy makers in adopting and mastering the most #innovative ethical and human-centred #AI solutions available in their own working experiences. 🇪🇺 CONCLAVE 2025 - Shaping a European 2040 Vision 🇪🇺 From January 16-19, 2025, Brussels hosted the 2nd edition of Conclave 🌐, Europe’s premier gathering before the Davos World Economic Forum 🌍. Organized by EuropaNova, this event brought together leaders from across Europe to discuss Europe’s strategic future in light of rising geopolitical tensions with the U.S. and China. 🫴 The event kicked off on January 16 with an exclusive preparatory session with Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General, focusing on European defense and the role of NATO. 🫴 The next day, January 17, an intercontinental conference was held with experts from the U.S., China, India, and Morocco, exploring the future of EU relations in 2040. 🌐 CONCLAVE 2025 🌐 The second edition of the Conclave was held from 17th to 19th January at the BELvue museum in Brussels. This gathering, powered by EuropaNova and co-organised with the support of Re-Imagine Europa and other organisations, brought together over fifty eminent European figures, including former prime ministers, European Commissioners, and leaders from business, science, and academia. Present during the debates was the new President of the Council of the European Union, Antonio Costa. In the introductory remarks, Erika Staël von Holstein highlighted how timely and critical the discussion is, aiming to conventional assumptions and exploring the trajectory of Europe’s future in a rapidly evolving global context because “the logic of yesterday is gone, and we don’t know what the logic of tomorrow will be”. Discussions focused on pivotal themes such as “Geopolitics, including Defense and Security”, “Science and Technology as key drivers of Competitiveness” and “Funding European ambitions, Narrative and Leadership”. These dialogues aimed to identify and evaluate existing solutions while formulating long-term strategic proposals often overlooked in conventional settings.
