It happened last week. The #RHINOCEROS M24 meeting took place in Mol, being hosted by VITO. Beyond these photos that will provide a glimpse of this meeting, there's much progress to talk about in automated sorting and dismantling of LIBs, supercritical CO2 extraction for safer #recycling, innovative material extraction and synthesis techniques; enhanced solvometallurgical processes, direct recovery of #battery materials, and the development of novel polymer inclusion membranes for metal recovery. ⁉️Why should you care about what's happening in RHINOCEROS? Few reasons below that will help you understand why #reusing and #recycling spent electric vehicle (EV) batteries is crucial: 💧Environmental protection: Properly recycling EV batteries prevents hazardous materials from leaking into our soil and water. ♻️Resource conservation: Recycling helps recover valuable materials like #lithium and other metals, reducing the need for new mining operations. ♻️Second-life applications: Even after they are no longer suitable for use in vehicles, EV batteries can be repurposed for other applications, such as stationary energy storage, extending their useful life and reducing waste.
