With coalition negotiations still unresolved, key health reforms and funding decisions are on hold as we approach the end of the year. 🔑 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬: • 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐧 & 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Health priorities are known, from reducing waitlists for disability care to strengthening mental health services and addressing environmental health risks. • 𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐬: Ongoing negotiations risk delaying crucial health policies, especially around equitable access to care. • 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞: Despite multiple extensions, budget negotiations are stalled, delaying the INAMI budget and vital healthcare reforms like telehealth reimbursement and hospital funding. While the region-focused health strategies are moving forward, the uncertainty at the federal level means that essential health policy decisions—affecting healthcare funding, medical reimbursements, and more—will likely be delayed until a government is finally formed. • 🚨 Save the Date! 🚨 RPP is proud to support the AWARE Alliance and this important conversation on the need to update European legislation to improve the response to sudden cardiac arrests in the workplace. Andras Kulja MD and AWARE will host a discussion at the European Parliament on 13 January 2025, outlining the outdated and insufficient provisions, notably foreseen by the OSH Framework Directive (89/391 EEC) and specifically in the 1989 Directive on workplace requirements (89/654/EEC) on health and safety at work. 📢 The event Creating Cardiac AWAREness at Work: Breathing New Life into the EU Safety at Work Directive will serve to explore solutions for mitigating SCA risks in the workplace. Speakers will advocate for harmonised CPR training, first aid education, and AED availability as solutions. 📊 With only 8% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims surviving in Europe, it is time to act. Studies show that performing bystander CPR can increase survival rates from less than 10% to over 40% for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests. This highlights the urgent need for updated workplace safety policies that include CPR training and equipment availability, ensuring that workers are equipped to respond effectively in such life-threatening situations. Let's create safer, healthier work environments together! 🗓 When: Monday, 13 January 2025, 11:00–13:00  📍 Where: European Parliament, Room ANTALL 6Q1  🎤 Hosted by: MEP Dr. András Kulja 🔗 Scan the QR code or register here to secure your spot in this important discussion! Let's bring #CardiacAwareness to the forefront of workplace health policy. See you there!
