Yesterday, Seafar had the honor of welcoming His Majesty King Philippe to our office in Charleroi at A6K. During this special visit, we showcased our cutting-edge work in automated vessel technology and our commitment to driving the future of shipping through innovation. His Majesty’s interest in our mission reaffirms the importance of technological progress in Belgium and highlights the impactful role of our Wallonia-based project, NAVAUWALL, where we collaborate closely with Service public de Wallonie, NOVANDI, Multitel, Logistics in Wallonia, DN & T, and University of Liège to develop pioneering advancements in inland navigation. A sincere thank you to A6K and Abd-Samad Habbachi for hosting this memorable occasion and for being a remarkable partner in advancing Belgium’s innovation ecosystem!

As part of the 1st #MASS North Sea Symposium, SEAFAR had the pleasure of hosting the MoU member states' delegates at our Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Antwerp. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our remote operations and exchange insights on the future of autonomous shipping with key stakeholders. Following the visit, we joined the symposium yesterday in Brussels, organized by the FOD Mobiliteit en Vervoer / SPF Mobilité et Transports. The event brought together experts and policymakers to discuss the next steps for Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) and foster collaboration across Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and the UK. Key Highlights: Bart Heylbroeck, Advisor General, Belgian Maritime Inspectorate, DG Shipping, Federal Public Service for Mobility and Transport: Reminded us in his opening speech that we cannot afford to wait for global regulatory frameworks to catch up; we need to act now to drive progress. Cybersecurity: Discussions emphasized the need for cybersecurity to be built into USV systems from the start. USV Operator Competencies & ROC Layout: The importance of unified training standards and managing information flow between human operators and machine systems was a focal point. Debates on MoU Alignment: Productive discussions on how to streamline cross-border projects and create more aligned regulatory frameworks among the member states. This event was an excellent opportunity to advance collaboration and innovation in maritime autonomy, and we want to sincerely thank FOD Mobiliteit en Vervoer / SPF Mobilité et Transports. Let’s keep the momentum going! #MASS #AutonomousShipping #SEAFAR #ROC #MaritimeInnovation #NorthSea #FutureOfShipping #Brussels #MoU

Remember the joy of RC toys as a kid? Now, you can control a real boat. And go for lunch to your favourite place. Future is here. As rare as it could be – I was exceptionally impressed to see how SEAFAR grew over past years. The company is a great example of how startups can develop into something really practical and innovative. They are leading the way in the future EU shipping industry with their advanced technology for semi-autonomous and unmanned vessels. Thanks Ghazaleh Kia, PhD and Aleksander Chernyavskiy for showing the other side of technology and one of the coolest offices possible! Let’s see how can we develop this collaboration! 🇫🇮 🔛 🇧🇪 : 🇪🇺 p.s. It is still exciting for me to see how attending of a conference allows you to meet amazing people! #IPIN #Research #Innovation #EU #MaritimeTech #AutonomousShipping #AI #Startup #Seafar #SmartShipping #Automation #ResearchCollaboration #EUTechnology #InnovationEU #HorizonEU #AIResearch #AutonomousVessels #SmartLogistics #DigitalTransformation Disclaimer: Photo is reused from SEAFAR website (everything is quite restricted at their office).

The upcoming amendment to the Dutch Inland Shipping Police Regulations (BPR) recently announced by the Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat marks a significant step forward for the future of smart shipping and for SEAFAR in particular! https://lnkd.in/de9g8pgJ This amendment will allow exemptions for automated and remotely operated ships on a selected number of articles of the BPR, making it possible to operate “smart” vessels under specific conditions across the BPR waterways. For SEAFAR and its clients, this development affirms the direction of future laws and regulations, giving new opportunities to increase efficiency and innovation within the inland shipping sector. This change not only benefits innovation in the Netherlands, but also aligns well with regulatory developments in Belgium, Germany and France. It contributes to the creation of a needed harmonized European regulatory framework for remotely controlled and automated inland vessels, by promoting cross-border operations and driving forward the adoption of automated solutions across Europe. Rijkswaterstaat (RWS), as the fairway authority on Dutch national waterways, is responsible for enforcing the regulations outlined in the Binnenvaartpolitiereglement (BPR). As such, RWS conducted an implementation review of this amendment and was already actively involved in the modifications of the Rhine Shipping Regulations (RPR), ensuring that these changes are practical and feasible. We at SEAFAR are enthusiastic about continuing our close and trusted cooperation with Rijkswaterstaat, as together with our clients we collectively shape the future in inland shipping!
