  • 🆕 The European Commission has published the Clean Industrial Deal (and more!)   The Deal is set to combine climate action and competitiveness 🤝under a single agenda.   Today's publication comes alongside the Affordable Energy Action Plan and the 'Omnibus Packages'. Together, the publications outline how renewables, electrification, grids, and storage, and legislative simplification can support Europe's industries and citizens.   Our CEO Walburga Hemetsberger reacted:   “The Clean Industrial Deal brilliantly sets electrification as a key pillar for industrial competitiveness and decarbonisation, including a new 32% electrification target by 2030... However, dedicated financial support for electrification needs to materialise.   Getting the upcoming Grids Package right is critical to the success of the competitiveness agenda. It should, however, be a Grids and Storage Package... Where is Europe’s battery storage strategy ?    We’re glad to see that today’s publication provides a boost for European solar manufacturers … We need to see EU products better rewarded in public procurement while staying clear of unnecessary barriers to solar deployment.   The Affordable Energy Action Plan has the right framing, focus and sequence of actions points … We do caution against plans to finance more LNG infrastructure...    Under the Omnibus packages, aligning the scope and obligations between the CSRD and CSDDD is sensible as long as it doesn’t water down regulatory objectives. Simplification should not mean deregulation.”    Read our full statement 👇 https://lnkd.in/eH5wJ7yT   📸© European Union 2025

  • The European Commission must solar power ☀️ EU competitiveness and the well-being of our citizens in tomorrow's Clean Industrial Deal and Affordable Energy Action Plan.    📉 Solar PV growth + flexible electrification can lower day-ahead electricity prices by 25% by 2030 and up to 33% by 2040, as well as reduce price volatility by 20%.    ♻️ Transitioning from fossil fuels to a renewables-based, flexible, electrified energy system will save Europeans €32 billion per year by 2030 and €160 billion by 2040 in energy system costs.   To access these benefits, there are several steps for the EU to take: • Securing a stable legal and tax framework to support renewables  • Providing temporary & targeted direct-aid to electrify industry  • Boosting grid capacity and access  • Reshoring solar manufacturing   Read more in our full Clean Industrial Deal & Affordable Energy Action Plan paper here: https://lnkd.in/e88NNmXs

  • Investing in solar quality today, will power solar’s growth tomorrow. ✅ 🌄 We're reflecting on #SolarQualityEU which took place last week in Barcelona. The annual event brings together leading members of the Operation and Maintenance (O&M), Asset Management, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) communities, to advance the long-term quality of Europe’s solar projects.    Day 2 highlights: • "Regulation needs to provide the right incentives to accelerate the deployment of battery energy storage systems (BESS). Opening up new revenue streams as others reach their limit, alongside the deployment of renewables, will be key to maintaining profitability.”- Nicolas Depoorter from NGEN, on overcoming challenges in the deployment of battery energy storage systems. • "The SUPERNOVA project will focus on developing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tools to improve the efficiency of solar PV plants. AI drives business growth and power demand." - Miguel Herrero Cangas from PVcase, during our SUPERNOVA workshop on leveraging the potential of AI for quality assurance. • Our Director of Market Intelligence Michael Schmela, reflected on the conference's key takeaways; “Quality comes at a cost, but when done right, it drives returns and strengthens competitive advantage.” Thank you to our co-organisers Intersolar, to SUPERNOVA and our Spanish partners UNEF Spanish Solar Association for supporting, and to all of our event sponsors. We look forward to seeing you all next year, and continuing our discussions on everything quality assurance! • Today marks 3 years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The war in Ukraine has proven how critical clean energy is to Europe's security. Solar power, as the most easily deployed clean energy source, has been key to supporting Ukraine in times of darkness and will be crucial for rebuilding the country, ensuring lasting energy security.   SolarPower Europe is a proud partner of #SolarSupportsUkraine, with BSW – Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V. and our implementation partners, the RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation and Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation.   Together, we're working to install solar on schools and hospitals in Ukraine, tackling energy outages.   Find out more about the campaign and donate here: https://lnkd.in/eFpsMP36 💙💛

  • 💡 Solar Infinity: Sustaining the Future with Solar Innovation.   The lifecycle of solar panels, typically lasting around 30 years, is evolving from an endpoint to an opportunity for renewal.    ♻️ Through advanced recycling and repurposing techniques, materials like silicon, aluminium, glass, silver and copper can be extracted, extending their utility. This shift in thinking is reshaping raw material sourcing for the energy transition, offering sustainable solutions for the future.    📰 In this article, learn how Europe is leading the way in this transformation, supported by funding initiatives like the RESiLEX project that is developing new recycling solutions for the solar sector.   By exploring the reuse of recycled silicon for high-energy-density batteries, the project aims to make electric vehicles more efficient and boost energy storage. This ultimately reduces our reliance on mining and increases solar sustainability.    Read the full article and check out #TheSunTimes magazine for more inspiring stories, showing how solar is powering Europe's competitiveness, energy security, and climate action: https://lnkd.in/e9kRC3uG

  • Why Europe's competitiveness depends on a flexible energy system. Europe’s industrial competitiveness is at risk. High electricity prices are making it harder for businesses to compete globally. While companies in the US and China benefit from lower energy costs, European industries are struggling with volatile prices, and an over-reliance on energy imports. But there’s a way forward: scaling up solar energy, electrification and flexibility solutions like battery storage, demand-side response, and grid modernisation can slash electricity prices by 25% by 2030 and 33% by 2040. 💡 What does this mean for European industries? ·      Lower production costs. ·      Attracting industrial growth with a stable, affordable energy market. ·      Reduced reliance on imported fossil fuels enhancing resilience. Yet today, outdated grid structures, the lack of storage solutions and market barriers prevent flexibility from reaching its full potential. Without urgent action, Europe will fall even further behind in global industrial competitiveness. 🔑 The solution? The EU competitiveness agenda must give a boost to renewables, flexibility, and electrification to ensure affordable energy and a strong industrial base. #LetsFlex

  • 🆕 The new European Commission 'Vision for Agriculture and Food' recognises the role of solar for the first time! 🎉 The publication presents a pathway for more competitive, attractive, and fair EU farming and food sector, and solar PV is identified as a key opportunity for farmers. Agrisolar can provide huge benefits for farmers and their environment: 💧 20-30% improved water efficiency 🐝 60% more pollinators 💶 up to €235,000 annual profit increases Lina D., our #Agrisolar expert said: "This is a landmark moment – the European Commission explicitly recognises solar as a complementary tool for agriculture, providing energy security, decreasing GHG emissions, and – critically - offering farmers additional revenue streams. Agrisolar – combining solar and agriculture – is a proven concept across Europe, with over 200 projects operating today. The Commission should now turn this Vision into action. We ask for concrete amendments to the EU Comon Agriculture Policy as well as dedicated guidance to better inform Member States and spread the benefits of Agrisolar to many more farmers and rural economies across Europe.” Read our full statement 👇 https://lnkd.in/eGd27fBm 🌾 Follow Agrisolar Europe for more updates on agriculture and solar ☀ 📸© Sun'Agri
