🎓 Teaching Digital Transformation at Solvay's Executive Master in Management this morning with Alexey, my AI teaching assistant - Solvay Lifelong Learning | Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management This morning, I had the opportunity to experiment with integrating AI into a case discussion on Netflix for Solvay’s Executive Master in Management program. That was done through a dedicated GPT that I configured and set-up to use a selected part of my research and notes on digital transformation and Netflix. The TA had some instructions on how to introduce itself and what to say about a specific section of the case discussion which was about business ecosystems and collaboration across boundaries of organizations. 💡 The Goal: Enhance engagement and try injecting content generated by an AI quasi-agent using a set of knowledge items I'd allowed it to access. That was during a case study on Netflix’s digital transformation. The idea was to test an AI assistant’s ability to complement classroom teaching by providing real-time insights and facilitating richer discussions. 📌 What Happened? The AI assistant was able to introduce itself and interact with us, although not always in controlled ways as it tended to be quite chatty :-) but it was fun. The content it was given as input to brief the class on Netflix's Open Connect Appliances as an illustration of cross-company collaboration and ecosystem thinking in running a business like streaming at Netflix. Alexey was able to answer some of my questions and showed an ability to synthesize complex data on the fly using frameworks I'd given as ways to structure the content for the class. Students were intrigued and I think had some fun with the experiment. Interestingly someone mentioned feeling relieved at seeing the imperfections and the sometimes buggy behaviour that was caused by network issues and maybe the volume of requests on OpenAI's infrastructure. 🎙️ What’s Next? After class I recorded a short recap of the session, including an interview with Alexey, who will tell you how we worked to prepare for this segment of today's case discussion. I think this may be a glimpse into how technology is reshaping education in a rather useful way, if we invest the right amount of attention to make this happen instead of writing regulations in fear of all the bad things that AI may or may not do. Learning Beyond Borders: Our Advanced Master's in Financial Markets Students Return from Luxembourg Study Trip! 🌍 Last week, our Advanced Master in Financial Markets students immersed themselves in the vibrant financial hub of Luxembourg, bridging classroom theories with real-world applications - under the guidance and company of their Academic Director Benjamin Lorent, PhD. 🔸The journey began at PwC Luxembourg, where they explored sustainable finance and the impact of ESG on consultancy and financial companies, guided by the Managing Director and ESG specialist. 🔹At the ESM - European Stability Mechanism (ESM), they gained valuable insights into its mission of ensuring financial stability in the Eurozone - while a visit to BNP Paribas Wealth Management Luxembourg highlighted how financial institutions innovate to meet the evolving needs of their clients, bringing a practical dimension to their classroom learnings. 🔸The Luxembourg Stock Exchange shed light on the growing importance of green bonds in sustainable investments, while an engaging lunch with the CEO of Quintet Private Bank provided unique perspectives on the challenges and opportunities for medium-sized banks, all from the executive boardroom overlooking the city! 🔹At The The LHoFT - Luxembourg House of Financial Technology, our students experienced the thriving fintech ecosystem, hearing innovative pitches from companies shaping the future of finance. 🔸The trip concluded with an insightful session at the European Investment Bank (EIB), where students learned about its role in driving economic and social development across Europe, joined by AMFM professor Yassine Boudghene and alumnus Arno Spiessens.
