We’re thrilled to announce the inauguration of the second biomass boiler at our Rheinberg soda ash and bicarbonate plant in Germany! By fully transitioning to renewable energy, Rheinberg has become the world’s first soda ash plant powered entirely by locally sourced waste wood, achieving a 65% reduction in CO₂ emissions annually compared to 2021. This milestone is a testament to Solvay’s active work towards sustainability, contributing to a 5% reduction in our Group’s greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. Today, we shine a light on the men within Solvay who are going above and beyond to make a difference—not just in the workplace but in their communities. 💙 Daniele at our Massa site: Through his association, A.FA.P.H., Daniele supports families with disabilities. Working hand-in-hand with the local municipality, they’ve built accessible kitchens, recreational spaces, and promoted inclusive sports activities. 💙 Wesley, our Site Ambassador in Paulínia: brings joy to the elderly at São Vicente de Paulo Home and recently joined an initiative to help flood victims in Rio Grande do Sul, contributing to two truckloads of essential supplies alongside fellow volunteers. He is also a regular blood donor, and has already donated three times this year! These are just a few examples of our amazing employees who create meaningful change and build stronger communities. At our Santo André site in Brazil, we’re dedicated to producing polyamide 6.6 polymers and yarns that balance performance with sustainability. We’re proud to support diverse industries with innovative products: Emana®, which promotes thermoregulation and blood microcirculation Amni® Soul Eco, the first polyamide 6.6 designed for accelerated decomposition We’re also working toward a more sustainable future through Bio Amni®, a partially bio-based PA 5.6 yarn. Our team’s quick response during the pandemic led to Amni® Virus-Bac OFF, helping protect textiles against bacteria and viruses. As part of a value chain connected to our Paulínia unit, we’re grateful to our dedicated team and partners, who make it possible to prioritize responsible innovation and circularity in fiber and polymer solutions. Let's take a look back at the « Proud of my Parents’ Work » day at our Solvay Sodi site in Bulgaria, an initiative by the UN Global Compact Bulgaria. The United Nations Global Compact is a voluntary initiative based on CEO commitments to implement universal sustainability principles. This project aims at guiding children in their future career development and showing them the contribution they can make to the world. 25 children got to learn about where their parents work, with a guided tour and science activities. Lisa Rapaioli, recent chemical engineering graduate, has received the Maria Cleofe Volpe Award for her outstanding thesis! This award celebrates young talent in STEM, spotlighting innovative research in chemical engineering and sustainability. During her one-year internship at Solvay, Lisa demonstrated a commitment to environmental responsibility, developing innovative solutions to optimize water usage and minimize wastewater. Her work, under the guidance of Eng. Francesca Gambino, Production Manager at the Livorno site, exemplifies the potential of next-generation engineers to address global challenges. The award honors the legacy of Maria Cleofe Volpe, former director of the Livorno plant, who inspired many with her leadership and commitment to innovation. Congratulations Lisa!
