🌐 SURPASS at Fakuma 2024: Showcasing Sustainable Polymer Innovation🌐 The #Fakuma International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing is a key event for the plastics industry, bringing together over 1,800 exhibitors from more than 30 countries. This year, the Fraunhofer ICT team, in collaboration with the Fraunhofer ICT Material Development and Compounding department, proudly showcased the SURPASS Project. At our booth, we featured: 🔹 Food packaging tray demonstrators — highlighting sustainable packaging solutions 🔹 Purified material granules — showcasing advances in polymer recovery 🔹 SURPASS project overview — sharing our vision for recyclable and sustainable polymers. Our participation extended beyond the booth! Key topics from #SURPASS were featured in industrial magazine special editions released ahead of the fair, with further coverage in press releases during and after the event. We are proud to have collaborated on this effort with our project partner, IPC Centre Technique Industriel de la Plasturgie et des Composites. 📣 Our 6th consortium meeting has officially concluded, and what an inspiring and productive two days it has been! Hosted by the wonderful teams at INDRESMAT® and Leitat Technological Center in the beautiful cities of Barcelona and Terrassa! During the meeting, we reviewed the progress of our work packages and case studies, ensuring we’re all aligned and ready to make the final year of this project truly impactful. These discussions were crucial in shaping our path forward and strengthening our collective vision. The meeting also served as a great opportunity to reconnect with partners, address key challenges, and refine our roadmap for what’s to come. A heartfelt thank you to Pablo R. Yesterday we hosted at INDRESMAT® facilities in #Barcelona the M30 General Assembly of SURPASS Project, our 2nd EU collaborative project where we are developing some bioPUR formulations with a disruptive technology that will make them reprocessable at their end of life. Polyurethane materials are known because of their difficulty in recycling compared to conventional plastics and a novel reprocessing technique, so called vitrimerization, is being used to process these waste streams, requiring some modifications in our formulations. This is a promising technology where our company is having a key role for its industrial implementation. The organizations that participated in the meeting are: Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives, Leitat Technological Center, IPC Centre Technique Industriel de la Plasturgie et des Composites, CIDETEC, Fraunhofer ICT, RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, Université Grenoble Alpes, UNE Asociación Española de Normalización, Waste Free Oceans, Wipak, Geonardo Environmental Technologies and BASF. 📢We were thrilled to present the SURPASS project during the Safe and Sustainable Design for Advanced Materials 2024 Conference 📢 This high-level SSbD conference unites a wide range of actors involved in identifying the levers for improving the implementation of SSbD in the design of chemicals/products. 🔔 As a reminder, Surpass is a demonstration of innovative technologies towards more safe, sustainable and recyclable polymeric materials for Small and Middle Enterprises in #building, #packaging and the #transport sector.
