Let’s meet Evie Decaluwe: under her motto ‘everything always turns out fine,’ she is an indispensable part of the Sustainable Development Group. This September, she will celebrate 15 (!) years of managing procurement, certifications and ERP. Not only is she a critical and reliable force at work, but also at home, where she cherishes quality time with her son, Leon. Over the past 15 years, she has enjoyed many memorable moments, including attending trade fairs, team-building events and meetings with clients, suppliers and agents. Starting today, the Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation comes into force, bringing strict new rules for plastic packaging. Non-compliance could result in fines, supply chain disruptions, and reputational damage 🚨 Key changes: - All single use, contact-sensitive and other plastic packaging components must contain post-consumer recycled (PCR) content: 30% on average by 2030 - Contact-sensitive packaging (non PET) must contain post-consumer recycled (PCR) content: 10% on average by 2030 - Only PCR counts: Post-Industrial Recycled (PIR) and Off-Spec materials will NOT qualify - Fake PCR is a growing issue: certifications like GRS, Plastica Seconda Vita and RecyClass are now critical What can you do? ✅ Audit your suppliers—ensure all packaging components meet the new requirements ✅ Demand certification to verify PCR content—avoid penalties and greenwashing risks ✅ Need help? Allow us to tell you about Vinventions innovative open-loop recycling system and why we are proud to be part of it. Vinventions collects and recycles used synthetic wine corks to create sustainable materials for these Vinny wine buckets. This initiative demonstrates the power of collaboration and a shared commitment to advancing the circular economy. The program begins with cork collection in France and Italy, where customers are able to return their used corks. Non-profit organizations like France Cancer manage the sorting process, using proceeds to support vital cancer research. Once sorted, we process the corks into high-quality, sustainable compounds. These materials are then molded into wine buckets by our partner Gevaplast, an injection moulding company with a strong focus on sustainability and the wine buckets are then marketed by Italesse, a leading supplier of wine accessories. By integrating sustainability at every stage, this initiative reduces waste, supports social causes, and fosters partnerships across the supply chain.
