The European Commission has released the findings of its first-ever investigation under the International Procurement Instrument (IPI), focusing on China’s public procurement market for medical devices. The results? Unsurprisingly, the Commission concluded that EU medical device makers do not have fair access to procurement processes in China. This could pave the way for IPI measures, potentially restricting the access of Chinese medical device operators or products to the EU’s public procurement or concession markets. What does this mean for the future of global procurement? Read our team’s breakdown ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dpf6V8Yt Andreas Reindl | Jorren Garrez #EUCommission #MedicalDevices #Procurement #IPI

In the wake of restrictive trade measures announced by the US President Donald Trump, an important question on everyone’s mind is how the EU will respond to those measures. Many have argued for the recourse to the Anti-Coercion Instrument (ACI), a relatively new and very powerful tool in the EU’s arsenal. The ACI entered into force on 27 December 2023 and has never been used so far. Is that about to change? Our latest client alert explains what the ACI is, how it operates and whether it can be deployed vis-à-vis the US. Earlier this week, our colleagues represented VBB at the inaugural Women & Law Empowerment Group (WLEG) breakfast in Brussels, hosted by Legal Diversity & Inclusion Alliance. The discussion covered key challenges women face in the legal profession, from career development to mentorship, gender equality at partner level, and fair allocation of work. This meeting is just the beginning 💪 We look forward to continuing the conversation and working towards concrete solutions for increasing gender equality in the legal field ♀️ #WomenInLaw #DiversityAndInclusion #LegalProfession

VBB’s eco-friendly ski trip 🎿🌍 Last week, our annual ski trip took us to the stunning Dolomites—this time by sleeper train, in line with the firm’s green goals for 2025! Despite a classic Belgian train delay, the journey through the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria made for a scenic adventure that no level of photography could fully capture. Between skiing, hiking and unwinding in the spa, the experience was unforgettable. The perfect send-off before the journey back to Brussels? Fresh snowfall on our final morning! A huge thanks to the organisers, and we look forward to next year! ❄️🏔️ #SkiTrip2025 #GreenTravel #LawFirmLife #Dolomites
