The gender data gap reflects this bias and often leads to a lack of knowledge about disease progression and therapy response in women. 𝗥𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 - raising awareness of the impact of rare diseases worldwide 🌍 🔎 In the spotlight: 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆-𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮, which is any form of dementia that occurs in people between the ages of 14 to 65 years 🔬 Prof. Dr. Patrik Verstreken (VIB-KU Leuven Center For Brain & Disease Research) is researching how a specific form of early-onset dementia can be treated with so-called ASOs (antisense oligonucleotides).
