Once again, I am deeply moved and grateful to all the volunteers and supporters who have helped develop World NGO Day. I am especially thankful to Kristīne Zonberga (Director of Civic Alliance-Latvia), exMP Mārtiņš Šteins, MP Rasima Leila, MP Jānis Grasbergs, MP Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, MP Edvards Smiltēns, MP Antoņina Ņenaševa, MP Daiga Mieriņa and to all Latvian MPs who voted “73 - Yes” to make World NGO Day an official awareness day in Latvia. 11 yrs ago, I could not have imagined that, on this very date, World NGO Day would be protected by law and become a national symbol for civil society in Latvia. #WorldNGODay

Today was a very special day—from speaking at the largest World NGO Day event in Pakistan to witnessing World NGO Day becoming an official awareness day in my home country - Latvia, and meeting amazing Members of Parliament.

This year’s theme, “Empowering Grassroots Movements for a Sustainable Future,”resonates deeply with our mission at Babies and Mothers Alive - where we believe that change starts at the community level. From our Mama and Papa Ambassadors to Mama Rescue, we work hand in hand with communities in Uganda to ensure that mothers and newborns receive the care they deserve. Through education, advocacy, and access to healthcare, we are building a future where no woman has to risk her life giving birth.
