𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: 🔹 Strengthening the ERA’s collaborative governance. 🔹 Universities’ role as key drivers of a single market for knowledge. 🔹 A streamlined ERA Policy Agenda 2025-2027 focused on synergies between research and education, enabling framework conditions, and inclusive stakeholder engagement at all levels. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝: 👐 To unlock the ERA’s full potential, addressing fragmentation, aligning R&I policies, and significantly boosting investments are critical. While YERUN supports the proposed ERA Act, its omission from the conclusions is a missed opportunity to solidify this vision. 🏛️ Universities are vital bridge-builders within R&I ecosystems. Their contributions—extending beyond competitiveness—foster public value co-creation, nurture talent, and advance inclusive innovation. Recognising the breadth of these contributions is essential. 🤝Aligning with the call of the Budapest Declaration, YERUN is ready to collaborate with policymakers and stakeholders to make the fifth freedom—the free movement of knowledge—a reality. 🔎 Last week, YERUN reflected on the experiences with both the original 2005 #EuropeanCharterforResearchers and the updated 2023 version. The new Charter aims to provide a cohesive framework for creating effective human resources (HR) strategies that support #attractive and #sustainable research careers across #Europe. 💡Today, on the occasion of the presentation of the new platform for the HR Excellence in Research award at the HR Excellence in Research Info Day, part of the Conference on Research Careers 2024, we take the opportunity to re-propose our reflections and recommendations to address key challenges: 🔹 Urgently update the HR Excellence in Research accreditation process to align with the 2023 updated principles of the Charter.    🔹 Focus on profoundly harmonising and simplifying the Charter implementation procedures while improving synergies with other R&I policies.    🔹 Commit to and set up concrete processes to improve communication between the Commission, experts/assessors and HR award applicants so institutions are facilitated in this process instead of facing uncertainties and barriers.   🔹 Prioritise the creation of a community-building and peer learning system to enhance engagement with the Charter and facilitate its implementation. Achieving the new Charter’s success requires clear implementation strategies and balanced objectives.
