Assistant Underwriter - FInancial Lines

Position Summary

We are seeking to hire an Assistant Underwriter to join our Hoofddorp office . The role will be supporting financial lines with a focus on Management Liability. The role will also have some involvement with Financial Institutions and professional indemnity.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting production of new business and maintenance of renewal book of business. This includes:

• Risk analysis, pricing, negotiating, setting terms. .
• Demonstrates adherence to underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks
• Develops and maintains positive Broker relationships
• Ensure adequate visibility into the industry,
• Utilizes effective relationship management to ensure improved and/or expanded relationship with target producers to ensure achievement of targeted profitability and renewal retention goals
• Prepares quotations and answers questions from Brokers, internal and external contacts and escalates issues as necessary.
• May assist in marketing products and services through the brokerage community and makes field visits.
• Keeps current on /territory issues, regulations and trends.
• Works with more senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
  
  

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Prior experience in Management Liability or Professional Liability underwriting.
• Knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
• Bachelor degree (preferably in law or Economics)
• Developing technical expertise and negotiation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with peer level CNA internal and external business partners.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong (financial) analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound business decisions effectively.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
• Perfect Dutch and English language skills
