Purpose of the function

The Finance Business Partner is an integral member of the Finance and Administration Department, with a specific focus on Belgium and Luxembourg. This role reports directly to the Head of Finance and serves as a trusted advisor to the business, offering guidance on critical business and planning assumptions, as well as on identifying trade-offs and opportunities. The Finance Business Partner conducts thorough analyses of performance and the external environment, delivering actionable insights and strategic options to various business teams.

Roles And Responsibilities

Business Partnering: Serve as a finance business partner for both the oncology and cardiovascular business units of Daiichi Sankyo Belgium and Luxembourg.

  • Develop comprehensive sales and cost forecasts for all internal planning exercises, conducted four times annually.
  • Critically assess submissions to ensure their realism and be prepared to substantiate these figures during the Quarterly Business Review (QBR).
  • Conduct thorough monthly expenditure analyses and review variances with the respective business units.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all regional inquiries.


AstraZeneca And Merck Alliance (Oncology)

  • Oversee the financial planning and analysis for the Alliances.
  • Critically evaluate figures and ensure timely submission in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of expenses with the team to identify and understand deviations from planned figures.


Credit Limit Management

  • Serve as the liaison for the local service provider concerning each blocked order.
  • Establish new credit limits in alignment with group guidelines.
  • Conduct an annual review of the credit limit policy.
  • Monitor the aging balance and promptly report any critical situations.


Support For MSC (Mid-Size Countries) Regional Costs

  • Engage in monthly follow-ups with the Business Planning and Analysis MSC Manager to ensure costs from MSC are accurately identified and reflected.
  • Submit all MSC costs during forecast exercises.
  • Provide financial support for MSC PMO.


Fleet Management

  • Manage relationships with external suppliers.
  • Develop car policies and budgets for our employees.


Finance & Controlling

Monthly Closing Process:

  • Perform monthly financial reporting, JSOX, and support on both internal and external audits.
  • Execute payroll and headcount reporting.
  • Implement and run allocation cycles in SAP.
  • Verify and validate accrual calculations.


Factual Verification For Daiichi Sankyo BeLux Affiliate

  • Review each invoice to ensure the correct internal order/GL account usage.
  • Ensure compliance with local procedures, including proper invoice and purchase order management.
  • Oversee the management of cost centers and internal orders, and maintain the approval matrix.


Project Management

  • Lead local improvement projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the finance organization


Identify and report complaints/safety information (including adverse events) to the Pharmacovigilance Department

Does the tasks and takes the responsibility as described in the Quality Management System of Daiichi Sankyo Belgium (conform the GDP guidelines)

Professional Experience & Education

  • Master in finance, Economics or Business Administration
  • Minimum 5 years’ of experience in Controlling, Finance and Accounting
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office & SAP
  • Languages: French or Dutch and professional knowledge of English
