The role works to strengthen Lockheed Martin customer relationships and support development and delivery of corporate strategy in the region. As part of the GBD International team, and reporting to the senior manager in Brussels, the position supports the profitable growth of Lockheed Martin business in the four countries and LM senior leadership to account for European Union relevant topics to be covered in LM Europe’s overall strategy.
GBD International Europe is part of Lockheed Martin which is headquartered in Bethesda Maryland. GDB International Europe is based in London and has regional offices across Europe. We are a lean, dynamic and agile team covering a wide breadth of business across the whole region representing the Corporate. This post covers Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the European Union and works closely and pro-actively with both GBD International Europe and US colleagues.
The job requires excellent written and spoken English and to be fully mobile to travel as required. High ethical standards and the ability to work well in a multi-cultural team is key. A background in the defence industry, military or government is an advantage.
The Ideal candidate would be living and working within the EU with current working Visa's to support this, as it is important to have the in country relationships and knowledge of them.
Specific Job Description:
As corporate representative the role develops and manages Lockheed Martin corporate engagement, business development, strategy and coordination of relationships in the nominated countries and on the EU level, representing the full breadth of Lockheed Martin to senior leaders, customers, partners and other key stakeholders. As country manager, the role strengthens the Lockheed Martin image as one company and increase understanding and support for Lockheed Martin goals, business pursuits and objectives. The role requires experience in professional positions and the ability to represent the entire group portfolio of products and systems.
Responsibilities:
• Represent Lockheed Martin with key EU, national Government, political, industrial and military stakeholders and develop and maintain positive and appropriate relationships with them in coordination with the Business Areas;
• Support Business Areas in identifying new opportunities as well supporting current programs;
• Develop an understand the EU and national procurement environment in the region, and identify business opportunities;
• Provide political, military and economic situational reporting to Lockheed Martin leadership;
• Support the implementation of Lockheed Martin strategies in the region and on the EU level;
• Promote industrial relationships and identify strategic partnerships;
• Plan and coordinate events and activities to support the Corporation’s business development and government relations goals;
• Work with Embassies and associations in the region and the EU to support Lockheed Martin objectives;
• Position LM as one company through events, seminars, sponsorships and donations.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
• Understanding of public relations and communication;
• A team player who can work well with international multi-cultural teams, committed to personal excellence, ethical behaviour and integrity;
• Knowledge and experience of successfully working and thriving in a fast paced environment;
• Ability to manage multiple lines of work concurrently;
• A high degree of flexibility and the availability to travel frequently in the region and occasionally elsewhere within Europe and to the US;
• Self-motivation and the ability to operate in a virtual team with minimal guidance;
• Strong organisational skills and the flexibility to respond quickly to multiple requests from across the whole corporation;
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of Government, political and military decision processes and requirements.
Desirable Skills:
• Seasoned professional with demonstrated experience and success in a aerospace, defence or government working environment;
• Relevant professional experience working in Belgium, the Netherlands, France or Luxembourg;
• A team player who can work well with internal support groups;
• Strong ability to recognise and understand client structures and processes in order to successfully manage/ influence/ communicate.
Typical Minimum Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience; or professional experience with a related Masters degree.
