Financial Controller

Our client is a Belgian family-owned diversified and internationally active industrial group in dredging, construction materials and environmental projects; with activities in more than 10 countries in Europe and +/- 500 employees.

For their Headquarters in Brussels, we are looking for the new Financial Controller.

Mission and Responsibilities

• The financial follow-up of the assigned business unit(s) and projects;
• Working along with other controllers / finance managers in order to get synergy on group figures;
• Working closely with project managers / site managers in order to understand the business activity, being able to translate operational information into correct financial data;
• Participate in joint-ventures, guarantee that the financials are correct based on the JV agreements, participate in meetings with partners;
• Analysing the monthly figures and making the appropriate provisions and reports to have a correct view on the profitability of the projects. Analysing the overhead expenses to be able to guarantee the correctness of all figures;
• Be responsible to establish a budget and forecast together with the project managers;
• Managing the P&L of the entities together with the accountants;
• Following up and helping out with annual audits;
• Setting up cost price analyses in close collaboration with the tender/ calculation team;
• Helping out with the integration of the new accounting / ERP system;
• Support the Group on other ad hoc needs / projects.

Education

Bachelor or Academic degree in Finance, Business Management or relevant.

Professional Experience and Skills

More than 4 years of relevant working experience.

A proven track record in business / project controlling; preferably in a technical environment (f.i. construction).

Personal Profile and Competences

Analytical, eager to learn and hands-on.

A team-player, but evenly able to work independently.

Pro-active in suggesting improvements, and very communicative and open to share information.

Fascinated by technique and eager to learn about the Group’s activities.

Fluency in English and preferably in Dutch and French.

Expert knowledge in Excel, likes to play with figures.

Ideally has experience with integrating and implementing an ERP system.

LOCATION

Brussels, with readiness to frequently travel to the Belgian locations; and less frequently to the international operations.
