As a Junior Financial Controller you will be in charge of the following tasks:
Analyzing and preparing financial statements, including profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and statements of financial position
Performing ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigative issues
Assisting in monthly closing through the elaboration of periodic control list and variance analyses (actual/budget)
Assisting with budgeting
Examining all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
Creating systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
Reporting to the chief financial officer with timely and accurate financial information
Assisting the chief financial officer in presenting reports.
Support to the departments you will be responsible for and look for opportunities and ways for improvement in the financial processes
Monitoring of all aspects of revenue and cost for the departments (incl. stores) and business processes you are in charge of by:
analyzing procedures and identify/quantify main risks such as fraud/theft/assets protection,…
performing controls and implement corrective action plans that you proposed and designed, either internally (new procedures,…) or with external support (theft prevention, stock-counting,…)
establishing a planning to make sure all risk areas are covered and controlled on a regular basis
Being key contact for the stores regarding financial and process aspects (incl. cash reconciliation, contact with banks, controls,…)
Qualifications
Master in Finance or Economics
Experience in Auditing (Big Four - min. 2 years) (knowledge of the retail sector is a plus)
You have a good knowledge of BE GAAP (knowledge of LU GAAP, FR GAAP is a plus)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Innovative thinking: bring creative but practical suggestions and recommendations
Ability to interact with colleagues at all levels throughout the company
Ability to perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks
Ability to work under pressure and intensive deadlines
Ability to work in a self-directed manner
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
Experience with Business Intelligence or other data analysis tools would be considered as an additional asset
Fluent in French or Dutch with good knowledge of the second language
Good knowledge of English
