Financial Controller

WindGrid NV/SA, incorporated in Belgium, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Elia Group SA/NV (“Elia”). Elia is a publicly traded company and is headquartered in Brussels, with approximately €6.5 billion in market capitalization and trades on the Euronext exchange. WindGrid develops, builds, owns, and operates offshore transmission infrastructure, leveraging Elia Group’s decades of experience in offshore transmission infrastructure, gained from its subsidiaries, Elia and 50Hertz, transmission system owners and operators (TSOs) in Belgium and Germany.

Both TSOs operate at the heart of the European electricity system as they provide vital links between the various electricity producers and their 30 million end users. The Group’s high voltage network, with its intricately meshed 19,276 km grid, transports the electricity generated by the producers to the distribution system operators and major industrial consumers. In addition, the Group has been one of the first TSOs developing, building, and operating sub-sea cables as well as offshore wind transmission connections in Europe. Today the group operates approximately 5GW of offshore and HVDC transmission assets and is progressing towards 15GW of projects through planning, consenting, procurement and construction stages. WindGrid is a remote team across Europe with head offices in both Brussels and Berlin. 

WindGrid is actively seeking a Financial controller to lead financial controlling for its operations in the EU and US and work closely with project development teams. You will be a member of an international and agile team, comprising market & business development, offshore engineering and financing experts. This role reports to the Head of Finance of WindGrid and offers a unique platform to contribute to a growing business while enhancing your technical and professional capabilities. 

Your key responsibilities:

• Overseeing all financial operations, incl budgeting, forecasting, reporting of holding and project companies (incl. USA, Belgium and UK)
• Monitoring the financial operations including cost control, revenue invoicing and cash management
• Coordinating the EU and US accounting teams
• Assisting in preparing monthly and quarterly financial management reporting (BE GAAP & IFRS)
• Managing group cash flow support with accurate forecasting
• Managing annual audit process
• Supporting project analysis, validation of plans and ad-hoc requests
• Coordinating the tax filings and compliance with the support of the Group Tax department
• Managing annual budget process and within-year forecasts, working closely with relevant teams to ensure that risks to delivery of targets are identified early and that budgetary controls are robust.
• Working with the projects team to ensure that capital expenditure is controlled and early identification of risks.
• Leading continuous improvement of WindGrid’s financial reporting and controlling
• Collaborating closely with Group Controlling team to ensure consistency with Elia Group reporting processes and guidelines

Your profile:

• At least 5 years of experience in Business or Project Controlling in renewable energy, transmission infrastructure or related sectors
• Internationally experienced team player who can work effectively with different cultures and diverse teams
• Familiar with SAP
• Good commercial and business acumen
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines while assuring high quality and accuracy
• Fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch, German or French is a plus
