As Head of FP&A in a game changing player of a pan-European Insurance group, you will support the company’s strategic decision making and steering of the future financial health by leading the financial planning, forecasting and budgeting processes. Your role will mainly focus on transformation and leadership, and you will be responsible from A to Z for the set-up and steering of the financial planning & analysis activities, as well as the management of the accounting, controlling, reporting and related project management of Athora Belgium. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be working closely with the different Athora entities and you will lead an experienced & motivated team. This dynamic senior position will also enable you to foster strong relationships with stakeholders and have the opportunity to bring your team to the next level.

Your Responsibilities

As Head of Financial Planning & Analysis , you are responsible for e.g.:

  • Leading financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes by providing regular dashboards, reports and financial analysis to the Executive Committee and Senior Management with critical insights and data needed for major operational, financial, and strategic decisions.
  • Leading real-time financial performance monitoring and controlling, escalating any financial issue and making recommendations to enhance financial performance.
  • Playing a pivotal role in the steering of the annual budgeting & planning cycle.
  • Supervising all accounting processes across our primary reporting bases Solvency II, IFRS and BGAAP as well as management information production covering the full range of activities from investment accounting and insurance technical to accounts payable and receivables.
  • Being responsible for the full coordination of month-end closing activities across our reporting bases, resulting in a timely and accurate reporting of actual results in line with Group guidelines and Group/NBB deadlines.
  • Performing key account reconciliations, justification, documentation.
  • Performing monthly analytical reviews to ensure transparency on the full balance sheet.
  • Support the Controlling/Tax function by providing ad-hoc analysis and documentation.
  • Setting up and monitoring accounting KPIs.
  • Supervising tax accounting and statutory submissions for NBB as well as for the Group regulator.
  • Ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations and deadlines (income tax, VAT, statutory).
  • Being responsible for successful completion of internal and external audits.
  • Leading a department of a dozen people and managing 3 direct reports, ensuring people development through regular 121, coaching and process performance review.
  • Steering the budget allocated to the department.
  • Etc.

Your profile

  • You have at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics or business administration.
  • You have at least 7 years' experience in a relevant position, ideally in the life insurance or banking sector. Transformation experience is an asset.
  • You have proven experience of FP&A activities.
  • You are a native French or Dutch speaker with good command of the other national language and have a strong command of English.
  • You have a solid understanding of IFRS and Belgium general accounting procedures and have strong knowledge of SII, IFRS17, NBB regulation and accounting software (SAP/Clearwater/Tagetik).
  • You have demonstrated strong stakeholder management skills.
  • You are highly organised and can work to tight deadlines and conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, and you are able to produce high quality written presentation materials.
  • You demonstrate capacity to engage and lead people during transformation phase.
  • You are dynamic, solutions and result-oriented.
  • You have strong work ethics and a can-do attitude.
