For the expansion of our EMEA team, argenx is looking for a Head of FP&A Developed Markets and Germany.

PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTION

The Head of Finance Developed Markets FP&A will be responsible for all aspects of financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation for the region. S/he will play a critical role in the financial planning process focusing on value creation and aligning resources with strategic priorities. S/he will be actively involved in the launch plan projects including providing financial support to all key functional areas critical to the launch plan. Working with the European Controller (Accounting) s/he will be responsible for participating in the monthly close process supporting certain aspects for example GtN and local statutory accounts.

Roles And Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Key member of Finance Leadership team in developing a state-of-the-art planning and management reporting process to forecast Developed Markets financial results and deliver timely insights to the business.
  • Prepare in liaison with Finance team the annual budget and quarterly financial forecasts for argenx Developed Markets full P&L.
  • Developed and maintain a long-range planning (LRP) and Sales and operating model for multiple indications.
  • Provide relevant & timely financial analyses of the business performance of argenx Developed Markets to enable real-time decisions and modifications to plan.
  • Assist in Development of a strategy and framework for how to monitor local market trends, competitors, technology partners, and other macro-and micro forces that could impact business locally.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to key business partners in Commercial and Medical Affairs and influence best decision making through financial data and analytics.
  • Developed and maintain the inventory management for stable supply of all products to serve patients. This include forecasting and reporting of supply needs for all the Developed Markets.
  • The role is responsible for all Developed Markets (argenx definition of Developed Markets excludes US, Japan, China and Partner (Distributor) markets. The role will also support Germany.


Developed Markets Commercial Launch Plan

  • Be a key member of certain launch plan projects of the commercial products, as needed
  • Provide analysis and support for pricing decisions.
  • Interact as a business partner with various parts of the Commercial team in order to build financial discipline into all key business decisions.


Supporting Responsibilities

  • Tax : Support Corporate Tax team:
    • In the Development and execution of the Group’s tax strategy notably with regards to transfer pricing.
    • To comply with government and statutory accounts reporting requirements and tax filings.
    • In monitoring profitability (for TP) and local tax risks.
  • Treasury: Support Corporate Treasury team in managing any local effective cash position and bank relationships.
  • Information Technology (BIS): Work closely with BIS and other stakeholders on all commercial and finance applications.
  • Support critical accounting and internal control processes:
    • Close collaboration with the European Controller on all accounting and reporting responsibilities for the region.
    • Support the local quarterly, half-year and year-end closing processes in a timely and efficient manner, as needed.
    • Review, update and document business processes and financial planning and reporting policies in line with COSO framework to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
    • Partner with accounting to support the OTC process and advise on gross to net adjustments.
    • Support European Controller in managing the “Order to Cash” process and wholesaler management.
    • Partner with accounting and supply organization on collection of Accounts Receivables in the region.
  • Procurement: Support European procurement manager with purchase requisition process and business partnering to achieve better negotiated contracts.

General (Broader responsibilities of the role include:)

  • Member of Developed Markets Leadership team and argenx extended Leadership Meeting.
  • Partnership with Developed Market - Market Access colleagues to negotiate and manage list and net prices in region.
  • Lead and mentor a team of FP&A colleagues responsible for the various markets in the region by providing financial leadership and analytical support while also keeping senior management informed on key financial metrics.
  • Support the Business Development and M&A teams as necessary.
  • Execute on special projects, as needed.
  • Prepare financial information for due diligence and financing events of the Group

  • Excellent IT knowledge including Microsoft Office. Experience of Oracle Cloud/Hyperion is a plus.
  • Strong analytical modeling skills.


Education, Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Accounting / Economics
  • Advanced degree or MBA preferred
  • Biopharma or healthcare industry experience strongly preferred
  • Relevant working experience as Director of Finance or FP&A ideally with a commercial-stage company
  • Minimum of 10+ years of overall combined finance, FP&A or accounting experience
