Your role

We're seeking a proactive Operations Manager to steer Fastned operations in Belgium and the Netherlands. You will be part of the broader Network Operations team responsible for ensuring we provide the best charging experience to our customers and overseeing our network of 2.000+ chargers in all 9 countries where we operate while cooperating closely with your local colleagues.

We provide you with the freedom to initiate and lead, and encourage you to bridge the gap between central decision-making and local implementation. In our fast-paced environment, your capacity to adapt, innovate, and execute will have a direct and meaningful impact on our growth and success in Belgium and the Netherlands. Together, we work to continuously improve our station performance and customer experience.

In this position, you will balance the need for local optimization with adherence to the standards defined by the central teams in Amsterdam while ensuring we comply with local regulations. You will work jointly with local and central leadership to optimise the charging experience for our customers within your market.


Your overall responsibilities include

  • Operational Compliance: Stay updated with local regulations, assessing their impact on our charging network and proposing appropriate actions, for instance, reporting of data to authorities, rollout of payment terminals on chargers, etc.
  • Project Coordination: Oversee and execute projects related to station improvements, ensuring seamless implementation and cross-team collaboration. Projects may involve station amenities, cleaning, greenery and winter service strategy, among others.
  • Process Development and Optimisation: Design effective processes and structures to meet complex external demands, such as those from tendering authorities, and to ensure streamlined communication flows.
  • Performance optimization: Closely monitor country-specific performance metrics and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to optimise them. Key metrics include for example uptime, session success rate, connectivity and idling.
  • Partner Relationships: Manage regulatory compliance and cultivate strong relationships with key partners, including tendering authorities, landowners and subcontractors with an emphasis on exceeding expectations and fulfilling commitments.
  • Competitive Analysis: Analyse regional competitors and share key insights with internal stakeholders, ultimately to be factored into Fastned's strategy development.
  • Partnering: Support central teams to implement key initiatives in your market. This may involve tasks such as assisting in the setup of local energy contracts or data brokers.

The ideal candidate has exceptional project management skills and a knack for aligning diverse stakeholders across various domains. You excel in creating processes and structures, and are capable of identifying and validating new opportunities through a data-driven approach. Furthermore, we're seeking candidates that meet the following criteria:

  • You have 3-5 years of operations or related experience with a proven track record of delivering key projects
  • You have strong implementation skills and experience designing efficient processes
  • You effectively collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • You have proven negotiation skills and hold external service providers to high standards
  • You are structured, thorough, and able to convey your ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • You are tech-savvy and are curious to learn more about chargers and related equipment
  • You have a genuine interest in the energy transition and Fastned mission
  • You are proficient in using Google Sheets or similar tools for data management and analysis
  • You have experience with querying and analysing data using SQL or are willing to learn
  • You have a driving license and are allowed to drive a car in Belgium and the Netherlands
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, with French a strong plus
