Job description

The Production Accountant will manage and oversee all financial aspects of film and television production from pre-production to wrap for The Post Office and their clients. This role is crucial to ensuring that productions are financially compliant, on-budget, and all financial records are accurate and up-to-date. The Production Accountant will collaborate closely with accountants, producers, department heads, and external vendors, maintaining a detailed record of costs, managing payroll, and generating financial reports. This position requires strong organisational skills, accounting knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment. Film industry-specific accounting and reporting principles will be taught if such experience is lacking. A background in accounting, finance or business management is required.

Antwerp, Belgium - hybrid (office/remote)


Duration

Needed: as soon as possible. / 2 months training optional / fulltime thereafter


Tasks

Budgeting and Cost Management

  • Develop, manage, and monitor production budgets throughout each phase of production.
  • Work closely with producers and department heads to allocate funds and track expenses, ensuring the production stays within budget.

Cost Reporting

  • Communicate financial status and forecast potential issues to producers and the production team.
  • Generate reports at the end of the production cycle, detailing all project costs and budget analysis.

Payroll and Accounts Payable

  • Coordinate payroll for all production staff, cast, and crew, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Manage vendor payments and process invoices, purchase orders, and petty cash in line with production policies.

Compliance and Financial Controls

  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations, including union, tax, and labor laws.
  • Ensure all production financial activities align with company standards and best practices.
  • Track tax incentives, rebates, and credit opportunities specific to production locations.

Accounting Systems and Software

  • Develop and maintain clear documentation for financial workflows, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • accounting is processed with EXACT online and OCTOPUS software.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between production staff, vendors, and the finance department on all accounting-related matters.


Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience - Minimum of 1 year in accounting.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and accounting software.
  • proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities; capable of identifying discrepancies and problem-solving under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be professional in English. Dutch preferred, but not required.
  • Must be a resident in Belgium or willing to re-locate.
  • Must have a EU passport.

This position is also available for people eligible for the Individuele beroepsopleiding (IBO). IBO has a consecutive full-time job offer if successfully completed the training program.
