R&D Manager Grains and seeds

For our headquarters in Groot-Bijgaarden, we are seeking an “R&D Manager Grains and Seeds” to drive the product development activities of Grains and Seeds. This includes both innovation and renovation projects, ensuring their successful implementation in our facilities and in our customers’ applications. You play a crucial role in developing and optimizing products, services, and processes to achieve our business goals.

Key Accountabilities:

Applied R&D

• Define & develop, in close collaboration with the markets, the product range including innovations and renovations of products, services and processes.
• Accelerate the implementation of Puratos Grains & Seeds solutions by mastering the customer’s processes
• Initiate, develop and maintain relationships and/or partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, such as suppliers, industrial equipment manufacturers, universities, research centers…
• Screen, select and implement new processing technologies, from lab tests to pilot scale
• Ensure knowledge building and documentation of technical & scientific know-how in the field
• Train, transfer knowledge and competences and facilitate the exchange between all relevant stakeholders
  
  

Quality & Operations

• Lead the new product handover to Operations, collaborate for challenges and opportunities, and give support by sharing expertise.
• Work closely with Group Engineering and local teams for the installation of new lines
  
  

Support to countries and business development

• Create and develop together with the Product Manager the strategy of the category and optimize the product range
• Support the implementation of strategic, international and local innovation and renovation projects
• Train the local business development teams on products and technologies
• Be an active member of the business development team by strongly supporting customer visits and understanding customer needs, travelling up to 30% of your time
  
  

Who are we looking for?

• You have a master degree in food science, biosciences or biochemistry with at least 5 years of experience, knowledge on grains and seeds, food processing and bakery/bread making is a plus
• You are passionate about food and ready to fully submerge yourself in the products and technologies related to grains and seeds
• You are digital savvy, curious, and results-oriented, always striving for quality and continuous improvement.
• You show strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• You are a team player with strong communication skills and ready to network effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch and French is a plus.
• You are willing to travel up to 30% of your time.
