The Financial Control team focuses on maintaining operational excellence and ensuring compliance in areas such as technical accounting, financial consolidation, statutory accounting, and key financial processes.

As a General Ledger Accountant Consultant, you will oversee a seamless and compliant accounting process. This includes planning, organizing, and managing general ledger accounting operations while analyzing and controlling balance sheets and profit & loss accounts to ensure accurate records and adherence to accounting standards and internal procedures. Responsibilities also include performing ad hoc IFRS analyses, such as those required for significant vendor contracts, conducting quarterly account reconciliations, and preparing for year-end audits.

The role involves regular interaction with key financial stakeholders, including financial controllers, FP&A, pricing teams, and external auditors, necessitating strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. We are seeking a proactive, quality-driven team player with a robust accounting or audit background to strengthen the Group Controllership team. Key Responsibilities

As a Senior General Ledger Accountant, you will:

• Lead accurate and timely monthly and annual closings and analyses in compliance with established quality standards, including accruals, deferrals, accounting entries, account reconciliations, data reviews, and revenue reporting/analysis for senior management.
• Conduct ad hoc accounting treatment analyses, providing documentation, insights, and recommendations to management and other departments.
• Prepare annual report closing notes and support the audit process.
• Maintain communication with internal and external parties to address queries, gather information, and resolve outstanding issues.
• Coordinate relationships with internal and external collaborators, including pricing teams, FP&A, accounting system specialists, and financial auditors.
• Identify opportunities for process and internal control improvements and drive or oversee the implementation of solutions. Participate in or lead departmental projects as needed.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of key business drivers and strategies relevant to the role.
• Support the broader accounting processes, including group general accounting, consolidations, intercompany transactions, and monthly closings.

Skills and Qualifications

• University degree in Finance or Economics, or equivalent experience. A master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in financial roles, including at least 3 years in financial auditing.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in SAP.
• Strong expertise in general ledger accounting, including accruals/deferrals and cost/revenue recognition principles.
• Knowledge of IFRS standards is advantageous.
• Fluency in English and either French or Dutch.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Exceptional technical accounting knowledge and expertise in account reconciliations.
• Familiarity with the reconciliation tool Blackline is a plus.
