🎯 Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll work closely with the Finance Manager of the Belgian entity and collaborate with the accounting teams in Italy. Your mission begins with taking responsibility for the handover of monthly and annual financial closures alongside the Italian teams. Over time, you’ll take ownership of all accounting operations for the Belgian entity, implementing streamlined closing procedures and internal control processes to ensure operational excellence.

Your key responsibilities will include:

✅ Driving a seamless monthly and annual closing process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

✅ Overseeing purchase invoice control, encoding, payments, and supplier account monitoring.

✅ Leveraging your strong knowledge of Belgian VAT rules and non-deductible expenses to guarantee proper encoding of purchase invoices.

✅ Preparing and submitting monthly VAT and Intrastat declarations with precision.

✅ Managing fixed asset accounts: monitoring depreciation, disposals, and acquisitions.

✅ Handling payroll accounting, including salary journal entries, provisions for vacation and 13th-month pay, and associated costs (e.g., group insurance, expense reports).

✅ Ensuring consistency of payroll data in SAP compared to the social secretariat, and justifying all related balance sheet accounts.

✅ Monitoring Aged Receivables, ensuring accurate allocation of payments, and collaborating to mitigate credit risks.

✅ Calculating value adjustments on receivables and managing the cost of risk.

✅ Ensuring timely and accurate client recharges (e.g., fines, fuel, insurance deductibles).

✅ Reconciling expenses and revenues with precision during each closing and maintaining updated reconciliation tables for critical accounts (VAT, salaries, accruals, invoices to be made/received, etc.).

✅ Supporting the Finance Manager with group-level reporting and contributing to the development of controlling procedures.

🌟 Your Profile

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant with the following qualifications and attributes:

🎓 Educational and Professional Background

• A Bachelor's degree in accounting, paired with at least 5 years of professional experience in accounting within a VAT-subject company.
• Extensive knowledge of Belgian GAAP and familiarity with IFRS rules.
• Prior experience in the car leasing sector is a plus, but not a must.

🧩 Skills and Expertise

• Proficient in Excel, with strong analytical skills and the ability to handle numerical data with precision and insight.
• Experience with the SAP ERP system is highly requested.
• Fluency in French and/or Dutch, with a strong command of English. Knowledge of Italian is an advantage.
