Senior accountant with controlling affinity

Our client, two European associations in the technical sector, are dedicated to supporting industries, enterprises, the public sector, academia, research centers, etc. Beyond its European reach, the organization maintains a close-knit, people-first culture, prioritizing employee well-being, shared vision, and a sense of family and community.

They are currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team, which consists currently of 5 staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end journal entries, including payroll accounting.
• Support accounts payable functions when needed.
• Maintain and update monthly accrual schedules, ensuring timely adjustments as required.
• Assist in preparing regular financial reports.
• Perform in-depth analysis of Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet accounts against the budget.
• Oversee intercompany invoicing and manage related transactions.
• Handle daily cash management tasks such as payments, receivables collection, and cash forecasting.
• Prepare tax returns (VAT, intrastat, not-for-profit taxes, etc.) and Belgian statutory accounts.
• Be the SPOC for external auditors, develop audit schedules and ensure timely completion.
• Address financial queries received from other departments
• Create accounting and bookkeeping forms and manuals.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Belgian GAAP).
• 6 to 10 years of experience in a similar role.
• Expertise in payroll accounting.
• Familiar with costing, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
• Ability to work independently while fostering strong team collaboration.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of accounting software Adfinity© is a plus.
• Fluent in English with a solid understanding of French.
