Contract: Permanent

Full-time: 40 hours per week (we may consider part-time hours for the right candidate)

Salary: EUR 5,245 gross/month

Benefits: Lunch vouchers, Reimbursement of up to 50% of the transport expenses, 13th Month Salary

BirdLife ECA is one of the six regional Secretariats that compose BirdLife International, the global authority on the status of bird species. Based in Brussels, it supports the European and Central Asian Partnership and is present in 47 countries including all EU Member States.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Finance and Administration Manager to oversee the Europe and Central Asia Division's finances, accounting, statutory obligations and office operations in Brussels, in collaboration with the Global Operations Team.

How you will do this:

  • Developing and monitoring the Division’s budget, in collaboration with leadership and finance teams.
  • Providing financial reports to support risk monitoring and decision-making.
  • Preparing financial reports for the ECA Committee and Board.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial policies, Belgian/EU laws, and BirdLife International policies.
  • Overseeing daily accounting operations, including invoices, payments, reconciliations, and cash management.
  • Supporting project managers with budgets, donor reports, and expense monitoring.
  • Managing monthly book closings and reporting to global headquarters.
  • Handling contracts, procurement, and compliance checks.
  • Supporting European Commission grant reporting and evidence collection.
  • Managing Brussels office operations and facilities.

Ideally you will have:

  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor in Accounting qualification (Bachelier en comptabilité)
  • In-depth Knowledge of Belgian accountancy law
  • Demonstrable Finance experience, ideally in an non-government organisation
  • Experience in leading teams
  • Ability to make sense of complexity and communicate with clarity
  • Fluency in English and French would be desirable
  • Understanding of culture, experience of or desire to work for a non-governmental organisation.
