For one of our clients, we are looking for a Solution Designer who will be responsible for reviewing and detailing high-level solutions created by the Solution Architect. The ideal candidate will ensure that designs align with industry best practices and current system implementations. This role involves creating modular, reusable, and flexible designs while collaborating closely with development teams, infrastructure teams, and third-party vendors. Additionally, the Solution Designer will manage security implementations, disaster recovery planning, and produce detailed design documentation to guarantee seamless integration across systems.

 

This is a long-term contract based in Brussels, Belgium, with a hybrid working model (2-3 days remote). The candidate must be based in Belgium and have proficiency in English, along with either Dutch or French.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Experience in public transport ticketing and product component development is required.
  • Review high-level solutions from Solution Architects and provide feedback based on current system implementations and industry standards.
  • Expand on high-level solutions by creating detailed technical designs for use by development teams, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and design modular and reusable technical components for solutions.
  • Define the optimal hosting platform for non-prod and prod environments.
  • Design interfaces and connection types between solution components, ensuring alignment with interaction principles.
  • Detail security implementations and disaster recovery solutions for applications.
  • Produce detailed design diagrams, including state transition, class, sequence, network connectivity, and ER diagrams.
  • Design APIs in accordance with customer enterprise guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Ensure all solutions adhere to technology, infrastructure, and security standards.
  • Participate in technical reviews and guide development teams on solution implementation.
  • Assist interfacing applications in their solution design discussions.
  • Review non-functional test results and make necessary adjustments to the solution design.


Required Skills & Competencies:


  • Strong experience in creating detailed designs for applications using a similar technology stack.
  • High-level understanding of infrastructure, network, and security components.
  • Passionate about documenting and maintaining detailed designs.
  • Experience working with UML and an understanding of tools like ArchiMate or ADOIT.
  • Ability to quickly understand customer infrastructure and security designs and align with reference architecture and standards.
  • Actively keep up with trends and developments in the field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.


Qualifications:


  • 8+ years of experience in software development.
  • 2+ years of experience working directly with Enterprise/Solution Architects and/or customer organizations.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure, network, and security designs.
  • Experience with UML, ArchiMate, or similar design tools.
