  • 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁? Tuesday night we had the honor of welcoming Diederik Samsom, former Chief of Staff to European Commissioner Frans Timmermans, to our office in The Hague. The event was organized by our colleagues Nour Alein Bahbouh, Peter ter Horst, Marloes Borsboom-Turabaz and Tessa Boogaard. Samsom played a key role in the creation of the European Green Deal. With his extensive political and administrative experience in climate policy, he provided an intriguing perspective on the current challenges and opportunities surrounding innovation and sustainability. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Samsom highlighted how the Green Deal has withstood two global crises—the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine—and described it as proof of the resilience and urgency of sustainable policy. He painted an optimistic picture: although the climate crisis is irreversible, the world’s capacity for innovation, through technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), offers enormous opportunities. 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 One of Samsom’s compelling examples was the offshore wind industry in the Netherlands. What began as a bold political investment in 2012 became a success story, achieving a 40% cost reduction. He stressed that similar steps are now needed in areas such as floating offshore wind, heat pumps, and batteries. “Dare to invest, even when the outcome is still uncertain,” was his message. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Samsom concluded with a challenging question: Is European industry ready for the challenges and opportunities ahead? The evening ended with inspiring discussions with industry leaders. It is clear: with the right collaboration between politics and industry, and a dash of optimism, we can embrace this crucial phase of the energy transition. • 𝐇𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝟏𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞.   Once a year, the Hague team embarks on a company outing known as a “Secret Escape.” This year, we celebrated our 10th anniversary over three days in beautiful Umbria.   Our trip included an exciting soft air battle, a truffle hunt, wine tasting, and a visit to Assisi. In between, we held workshops focused on our future plans and the challenges ahead.   As we close this chapter as Hague, we look forward with great enthusiasm to our future at FGS Global.   Read more about our Secret Escape: https://lnkd.in/edu4XGQM

  • The energy transition takes time, and we can’t just abandon fossil fuels overnight. But what if we could reduce CO₂ emissions much faster? CO₂ storage (CCS) not only helps limit global warming but also provides a resource for the green energy of the future. Imagine plastics and fertilisers made from captured CO₂!   Read more in this blog written by Menno Snel, partner at Hague Corporate Affairs: https://lnkd.in/einRXzna #EnergyTransition #CO2Storage #Sustainability #Climate #Innovation

  • In our latest client case, written by colleague Marion BANIDE, we show how we support our clients in achieving their goals.   This time, we focus on Eurostar, which has played a key role in cross-border rail travel since its merger with Thalys in 2022. The Amsterdam-London route is growing rapidly, but is currently interrupted by works on Amsterdam Central and the high-speed network. Eurostar advocates for a level playing field between aviation and rail and seeks strong political support for sustainable transport, with the ambition to transport 30 million passengers in a CO2-efficient manner by 2030. To achieve this goal, close collaboration with stakeholders is essential: in this context, Hague supports Eurostar in the engagement of both institutional stakeholders - such as governmental representatives and parliamentarians - and non-institutional partners - such as ProRail and VNO-NCW.   Curious about our approach? • Ten years ago, on October 4th, 2014, our Founding Partners, Peter ter Horst and Vincent Nieuwelink, embarked on an ambitious journey with the vision of creating an agency that would seamlessly integrate public affairs, lobbying, and communication. The past decade has been nothing short of transformative: starting with a single office in The Hague, we have established a presence in Brussels, Amsterdam, and Paris, and forged partnerships with leading agencies across Europe. Together with our teams, we have navigated challenges, celebrated victories, and gained invaluable insights along the way. Each experience has shaped us, allowing us to grow both as individuals and as a dedicated team. Today, Hague celebrates 10 years of commitment, hard work, passion, and risk-taking. As one chapter closes, a new one begins with Hague joining FGS Global, a leading international communications and public affairs consultancy. This exciting step will elevate us to new heights, providing enhanced resources, networking opportunities, and expanded expertise—ultimately benefiting our employees, clients, and partners. Today, we not only celebrate our past but also embrace a future filled with new possibilities. Stay tuned for our next milestone! #10YearAnniversary #publicaffairs
