  • Have you ever seen this many people at an event about #compliance? 😉 Yesterday, about two hundred technology transfer and IOF (Industrieel Onderzoeksfonds) colleagues from the five Flemish universities gathered at Museum M in Leuven, to participate in the yearly #TTOFlanders networking event. The main topic of the day: regulatory compliance. Or in other words: doing things right, while doing the right thing! 🌍 A university is indeed the place par excellence where innovations can emerge in an ethical, correct way. The keynotes, panel discussion and workshops at the event all centered around that idea. The event was organized by KU Leuven Research & Development, with the support of UAntwerpen Valorisation Office, UGent TechTransfer Office, UHasselt Tech Transfer and VUB TechTransfer . Already looking forward to next year in Antwerp! 👍 #innovation #networking #techtransfer

  • Identify, invent, and … implement! 🚦 Those are the three steps of the #Biodesign method developed by Stanford University to come up with innovative solutions for unmet medical needs in healthcare. In their project #Design4Health, young professionals Defne Kincir, Robrecht Abts and Marie Verougstraete applied this method to identify an unmet need at UZ Leuven, for which they invented and – in a next step – will implement a smart and viable solution. Curious about the health-related point of improvement they've spotted? Read all about it in the latest edition of ‘Economie werkt’ by the province of Flemish-Brabant. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXyuWMhH Design4Health is a project by Health House vzw, KU Leuven Research & Development, UZ Leuven and the Faculteit Geneeskunde KU Leuven Faculty of Medicine, with the support of Smart Hub Vlaams-Brabant. #innovation #researchvalorization #LRD

  • Ever wondered why an EV’s motor sometimes makes an annoying sound? ⚡🚘 Within the H2020-project #ECODRIVE coordinated by KU Leuven, 13 young researchers pondered this issue and started to develop technologies for safer, cleaner, and quieter vehicle powertrains. In this European project featuring industrial partners from the automotive industry, our KU Leuven Mecha(tro)nic System Dynamics (LMSD) team tackled technical challenges related to noise, vibration and harshness (#NVH) in eco-powertrains, addressing both combustion engines and electric motors. By employing state-of-the-art simulation and testing methods, the project has facilitated the further development of road transport safety in Europe. 🦺 What’s more: the project served as a launch pad for the researchers involved, who now have the necessary skills to become the next generation of NVH experts for the transport industry. 🤔 Curious to know how this all works? In a recent interview on the European Commission’s CORDIS-website (Publications Office of the European Union), our industrial research manager Bert Pluymers does the whole story. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eSgBaSfY -- The ECO DRIVE project received support from our European and International Government Funding Unit at #LRD, which ensured European regulations were applied correctly. -- #innovation #researchvalorization
